My setup is as follows:

Humax HDR with 2 feeds in[LIST][*]Tuner 1 is connected to 2 LNB's (28E / 19E) with DiSEqC (initial tuning showed DiSEqC B)[*]Tuner 2 is connected directly to a LNB pointing to 28E[/LIST]
Initial setup & Freesat tuning is fine - I can record one channel whilst viewing others.

I go into the hidden menu and add 28E + 19E to Tuner1 with DiSEqC B and then add 28E on it's own against Tuner 2 - with no DiSEqC, before tuning both 28E & 19E.

The channels then view as expected, so in non freesat mode I can view channels from both LNB's. However, when I return to Freesat mode and record something I cannot view any other channels at the same time.

Any ideas? It looks as though it might only work if I have it setup with two Tuners the same i.e. 28E & 19E on both tuner 1 + 2.

Any help appreciated.

The only other suggestion is maybe the diseqc cannot be seen in freesat mode, or it defaults to the 19.2 satellite so you're only receiving signals from 28.2 via the second tuner?

You could experiment with swapping the LNB feeds on your switch to see if that makes any difference in freesat mode (if this works you will have to change your diseqc settings in the secret menu and maybe rescan for channels in non freesat mode.)


When using a monoblock for 19.2/13 it defaults to the left hand LNB when no diseqc control is set up and behaves like a regular single LNB.

I think this may be the key. I think this is how I set mine up. Apologies for not following up from your previous thread but I have been getting home too late to investigate the settings on my HDR.

Thanks both for your assistance, I've now got it working.

I swapped over connections on the DiSeQ switch - and noticed Freesat registered 28E as postion C (previously B).

I then setup Tuner 1 to be 28E on DiSeQ C, 19E on DiSeQ B & Tuner 2 on 28E no DiSeQ. I still had the problem.

I then tried setting up both tuners to be the same (even though in reality they are different) as per Tuner1 settings above. Did the manual Tune for 28E & 19E. Switched back to Freesat mode - it did another Freesat scan as it could not find any channels.

At this point it works...

Conclusion - :

1) For this setup you need to set non Freesat Tuners to both be the same
2) I possibly did not register the DiSeQ switches correctly previously, swapping over the cable allows you to see what the other letter is (a,b,c or d)
3) I may have needed to swap the LNB connections into the DiSeQ switch (or the problem may have been 2 above). I noticed that my 28E now goes into LNB1 on the DiSeQ switch - this may have been important.

I have one dish pointing to astra. I have a second eliptical dish with two LNBs pointing to Hotbird & Sirius - there's only one cable from this so I presume there's some sort of diseq at work here. I have the Humax HDR currently connected to the astra dish. At present I have another decoder that handles the sirius/hotbird dish.

I would really like channels from astra/hotbird/sirius to work via the Humax (and I'd ditch the over decoder). I ideally I'd like Freesat to work also. Ideally I want to have a groups of 'favourite' channels picked from across the the sats.

do you believe that this is possible? If so is it just a matter of working on the HDR setup or do I need more kit?

I think you will need a 4-way Diseqc switch and cable in the three LNB's into that. You will then have one feed out going into the Humax.

You should think about your recording requirements, recording isnt as good on non Freesat, so you may just want a Duo/Quad LNB on the 28E feed going direct into the Humax.

I've always found that with Diseqc switches if no Diseqc signal is sent they always seem to pass to LNB1 so you will need 28.2 on LNB1 then all should be OK.

If I put astra into tuner 1 and the already diseq'd hotbird+sirius into tuner2 on the humax... will Freesat still work.? Would I have to switch between freesat and non-freesat mode to see the hotbird channels? I ask because I can manual tune and find the hotbird chans.. but they disappear as soon as I do a freesat tune.

One factor that may decide what I do is that the humax doesn't seem able to decode anywhere near as many chans as the openbox decoder i currently use for hotbird.. that's pretty much a show stopper for me.

One problem with the plan mentioned, is the inability of the Humax freesat HDR to manage favourites in non freesat mode, the function isn't available, although you can delete channels from the non freesat channel list.

You may have more luck here if you manually scan a particular transponder that you are interested in. In particular I would recommend checking the DVB-S2 (8PSK) or DVB-S (QPSK) settings. These can be found on http://en.kingofsat.net/pos-19.2E.php for example. Just find the satellite you need and that should help.

One thing that might help is the satellite settings in a hidden menu, which allows you to set up satellite and diseqc settings, and perform a channel scan, it does appear to scan frequencies and use FEC settings appropriate to the satellite in use, although things change all of the time, so 'kingofsat' is your friend in that respect.
