question about cordless phones
am thinking of replace my phone with a cordless one.
i've never had a cordless phone before ... do they have to run off a mains electricity supply? (i don't have a power point near the phone socket) are there any that can run off batteries? (or is that a stupid question) thanks

you're a bit behind the times! lol. We've had cordless phones since about the 80s!
Yeah, you need a power socket next to the phoneline in order to power the base unit, and to charge the handset off. I doubt there are any that run off just batteries. One of mine COULD run off a 9 volt battery - but this is just as a backup for in powercuts. If you tried to run the base unit off the backup battery, youd probably have to replace it every day.... and the handset would never charge up either! |
