No, "he" would just think he's a good dancer.
Oh I dunno though, he did do a bit of dancing up and down the aisles at Tesco's didn't he? ![]() It is also said in The Mirror today that Sharon had been uneasy about Arlene being dumped |

The BBC have just made a statement saying that Richard Madeley and Sharon Osborne ahd never been signed into contract and so it is untrue that they have dropped out due to money.
So looks like it's true then ![]() |

What with this and the Alesha Dixon business, is it just me who is getting a distinct 'sinking ship' feeling about the next series?

Considering last year's shenanigans, we will soon be looking back fondly at the relatively non - controversial Series 6!!

As with so many things the BBC try to fix stuff that isn't broken.
Too many "suits" interfering and trying to justify their ridiculously high pay. In my opinion as a format, SCD was fine from an entertainment viewpoint when all the couples could be accommodated in the one show at the start of a series. When they started dragging it out to compete with X-factor, it lost something. Everyone likes to be associated with a success. But it would have been far better if the BBC could have focused on another area, say improving drama and comedy which are the poorest areas instead of messing with this. You can bet the first item on the agenda at all post production meetings for this show, was the ratings compared with those of X-factor. As if many viewers give a monkey's. |

When Bruce was interviewed on Gethin's radio show I thought he made an excellent point.
He pointed out that SCD is not on TV at the same time as X-Factor (well, maybe a 10 minute overlap), so how can they be competing in the ratings? The two shows did go head to head in the early days of SCD and then sensibly it was changed so that SCD was on first - if I remember correctly it was usually Robin Hood or something that went head to head with X-Factor. So unless the schedule is being changed so that the two shows are both on at the same time, how can it be about ratings?

Ditto, now if they could just confirm Geri bloody Halliwell isn't appearing as well I can start to really look forward to this (and confirm Shane Warne is appearing, I find the thought of him doing it delicious

"Held talks" = "got a researcher to ring their agent, and then afterwards the tabloids to bloke smoke up their hole as to who might be on the show this year, even though Sharon's agent told them to piss off and they knew all along it'd end up as the usual ex-Eastender, washed up pop star, retired athlete and "veteran presenter" suspects"
Probably.

If it's true, and it's a big if, about Richard Madeley being asked and refusing to do Strictly I'm quite surprised. After the dreadful ratings of his and Judy's chatshow I'd've thought that ANY TV work he's offered would be snapped up. After all, beggars can't really be choosers, and as Alesha has shown, the publicity you get from competing on this show is priceless. And in my opinion HE, of all people, needs that publicity at the moment! Besides which, I definitely thought it would appeal to his massive ego to be back on prime time TV

You get what you pay for and if they won't pay the going rate they won't get anyone who could make more in panto for less work or who makes much more elsewhere. They already have a problem with the voters not voting for effort or ability and voting for any attractive male in sight thats shouting out that doing the show is a waste of time for most celebs. . Talking about it being an entertainment show just takes it further down that route. They also have a shortage of young celebs (which is the only way to get a younger audience) and nobody has actually benefitted that much by doing the show in recent years. The only people who it will soon make sense for doing the show are retired cricket players who will be a shoe in for the final however bad they are (please not another one rerunning the same journey yarn) and people with enough millions in the bank to just want to do it for fun - like Geri.

I don't think people do just vote for the eye candy - it only helped Mark Foster so much last year. Also it has be said that all of series five quarter finalists have done pretty well out of it since although it hasn't exactly done loads for last year's lot - Lisa didn't really need the career boost as she was doing ok for herself without SCD. |

I think last year's show did alright by a number of people to be honest. Tom Chambers has got a gig on a high-profile BBC1 programme when a lot of people who leave the Holby/Casualty stable flounder utterly. Austin Healey's primed to up his wage demands for any rugby commentary he might do. Christine Bleakley's in a position where she's moved from anonybint sidekick to someone who's a name who could get presenting gigs in her own right. Jodie Kidd did some public rehab after a damaging cocaine scandal. John Sergeant got a huge amount of public goodwill and support.
I think it's possible that the show appears to have done a lot less for these people than the series 5 folk because the people that series were far more at a loose end in their careers and so could springboard off the show. The popular people last year (with the exception of Tom) were either tied to something past the end of the show, or not particularly bothered about capitalising on it in a high-profile showy way. |
