Sony SA-VE525 Pascal Speakers
Has any one heard these or have these speakers. I saw a good review of them but I wanted some personal opinions. I was thinking of using them with a Sony STR-DB1070 AV amp.

I am using the Sony SAVE-705 Pascal’s with my old Dolby Surround amp (STRD515). I think they are pretty good, but I have read quite a lot of disappointing reviews. I am really into my home cinema and will be upgrading to the new Sony amp (STRDB1070) soon. I am hoping they will sound better with the new amp. I do find they lack in a few departments, like speech, movie speech does not come out clearly and it sometimes really lacks in some movies (e.g. Gladiator) and sometimes when you play music the midrange frequencies is not too apparent. Hopefully the new 1070 amp will have better affect on these Pascal’s. You might want to check out the new Pascal’s (SAVE-815) Check out the Sony site: (http://www.sony.co.uk/products/) Sony SAVE-705: http://212.250.57.206/productspecs/H...tage=12&New=No Sony SAVE-815: http://212.250.57.206/productspecs/H...tage=12&New=No Also the Home Cinema Choice review on the Pascal’s is quite useful: http://www.homecinemachoice.com/test...nyPascal.shtml |

I also have the SA-VE705 coupled with a Yammy A5.....DD5.1 and dts sound excellent - but I agree that every single review I've read slates them.
+ points: good looks, nice size, decent price - points: for me, none really, they do the job in the room I have for movies and music. I would not use them in a dedicated cinema room (but I don't have money nor space to do this). For your casual audiophile Sony deliver reasonable quality when compared to price. That's all my honest opinion. |
