No, it's one of those tricky 'anagram indicator in the title' clues I'm afraid....

One of a series of very successful films, you'll have heard of it, title could just as easily be (5,5) literally

Rocky 3 or Three then!

Don't even remember that being in the list.. wasted 15 mins looking at that! Never occurred to me that the 3 might not be number of letters, even though I'd got there from the anagram - sneaky!

Quiet = Sh
about = re
centre of Mikey = k

Shrek

LOL, that Mikey bit threw me for a while (as did about - thought that was either an anagram indicator or an instruction that the preceding word got split to the start and end of the clue!)........a reference to Michael Myers I assume?

You're giving me too much credit there!
"About" was nicely ambiguous but I hadn't make the connection to Mr Myers. I was just searching for words with K in the middle and cursing that"aisle" didn't as that would be a better surface reading! Didn't want to use thousand or king as that'd be too easy

Not got much of a clue with this one:

Starring Geordie Jim

Any famous Jim's from Newcastle? Can't think of any...

and a Welshman, reportedly?

Dai, Ivan, Taff, etc .. reportedly, so as spoken not as spelt.

(8,3,1)

Only film I can think of with a one-letter end is American History X which obviously doesn't fit the clue or letters. Is the last "word" a number?

Anyone else help out?

Dai is the homophonous end of the clue, well done

You really need to nail the Geordie Jim though to solve it though I'm afraid.....he's an actor but also had one or two dodgy singles!

Well done mate, there were also a few little extra hints...

"Grant me this groaner" (Richard E. played Withnail)

"Nail the Geordie Jim"

btw, unlike Guess The Band I think we're leaving the number of letters from the start in this one

It seems to have gone that way with the clues we have put up, but I'm easy if the number of letters will make it too easy, leave them out.

Also, it might be good to draw new players from the Movies subforum into the game if we can have a few easy clues to get started!

(3, 9) possibly just (9)

I think it makes it a bit to easy to start with the number of letters
