Sorry but for me it has to be Nick in Corrie. It was pointless bringing him back from Canada with "luvvie" accent and orange face. To even consider him as "management, material" is ridiculous and although I do give him credit that his acting isn't as awful as it was before he went (thankfully) to Canada, basically he's still poor. And don't get me started on that pathethic kiss, if you could even call it that

I really, really dislike Blanche Hunt. But I wouldn't want the character to disappear, as she's fun to watch. If I liked all the people it'd be very boring.

Without Roy and Hayley Tracey would probably have had an abortion and so nobody would know anything about the pregnancy. We'd have lost a good storyline.

On the other hand, Dev and his stupid girlfriend, and Les Battersby are all crap actors and should all get their marching orders.

With Nick I don't like the character and I just don't particularly think he's a very good actor. I agree that Dev and his current girlfriend are awful characters that I'd be happy to see go away for ever. Although I loathe the character of Les Battersby that's intentional on the part of casting. The bloke who plays him is brilliant, like the excellent actress who plays the even more loathsome Cilla.

Ah, so the question was really about the most pointless characters, not the ones we hate the most.

Huw in Eastenders was always a bit pointless.

Well I suppose all characters eventually come into thier own (can't comment on Easties, sorry). For example Harry the hanyman/cleaner in Corrie has always appeared a bit pointless but there's a storyline coming up where I think he dates Bev or someone and we learn about his past and his daughter who died very young.

At the moment Little Mo needs a good slap. The character is so ridiculous and with every episode reminds me more and more of Frank Spencer. Thank goodness we have a break from her and hopefully on her return the script writers will have seen sense. Poor Kacey Ainsworth having to deliver such an atrocious storyline.

Spencer Moon is a pointless, gormless, brainless idiot.

I don't really have major opinions on the actors, but looking at characters from the soaps i catch, I'd say:

Eastenders:
Shirley - they keep hinting at an interesting background but never develop it
Vicki - Michelle's daughter should be so much more interesting, I think that may be down to the actress more than the character
Spencer and Nana Moon - I've never enjoyed "comedy" characters, even Ethel who everybody loved got on my nerves.

Hollyoaks
The new family - but then I hated the Slaters when they joined Eastenders so give it time.

Neighbours
Taj - yawn.
Summer - irritating little kid

Home & Away
so far - Coleen's lost daughter - comes from nowhere, takes over drop-in centre, shags Alf. What the ... ?!!!
Actually ... Coleen (another "comedy" character I don't like!)


If they bugged me THAT much I wouldn't watch the soaps so take all this with a pinch of salt, but they are definitely the characters who, in my opinion, need developing or axeing.

Cilla and Les in Coronation Street put shame to the Equity membership they should have their cards taken away.
Cilla should be sent back to the santa groto she came from.
Nicola Blackstock is one of the wrost actors on TV she looks at the camera all the time, and is as ugly as Cilla of the street.



Hayley and Roy are fab they are the king and queen of Corrie.
and Rita is the dame.

What about Cindy Beale, hard up after all of Ian's brothers and any other sleazy man she could get her hands, and Barry for helping her plot all that evil against Ian and how come no one every turned on Barry for all the stuff he did to help her.
1.helped her find a hit man
2. gave her and David a place to have their affair
3. helped her stael Ians kids and leave town

No wonder than had Natilie cheat on him he had it coming..

Oh Yeah and Tanya the trampy old barmaid that stole Des from Raquel and then stole the man that supposedly loved Bet Gilroy. Bet should have decked them both.
