Should Tom Chambers replace Len Goodman in Strictly 2011?

The BBC should replace all the judges Len, Craig and Bruno. So along with Alesha and Tom lets add Jill Halfpenny and we must have a cheeky chappie in there Darren Gough.

They should also replace all the Pro's with new Dancers. In fact why not let some of the winners of SCD like Mark and Natasha do the teaching. If learners can do the judging I'm sure they can also teach.

Why not just destroy one of the most successful shows the BBC has produced completely. If it ain't broke don't try to fix it.

I think Auntie has lost it finally! Don't know if I'm going to be able to put up with Alesha's Muttley laugh for long - it does grate after a while. Personally I think without professional dancers/choreographers on the judging panel the whole show will go to the dogs. A statement from the Beeb stated that the average age of the viewing public for Strictly was 52, well add up the ages of the previous panel Bruno - 16, Craig - 35 (!), Arlene - 60 ish and Len 101 and their average age is around the 50 mark. come Auntie Beeb admit you're wrong and do the decent thing bring Arlene back - although if she told you to shove it, it would only serve you right.

Fat chance. I do hope Arlene gets a terrific job and can go 'up yours' at them.

Alesha annoyed me in her 5 minute segments in series5. I think I'm going to crack completely with her commentary through the entire show.

Would you mind posting a link to this please? I'd like to read it. Ta!

Buddy. Don't know if this is the article referred to, but the average age is mentioned in this article:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2009...me-dancing-bbc

I must admit, I'm a bit bemused by the mention of the Argentinian tango in the article, since although it is danced on SCD, I don't know why it is singled out for a mention since it was added as an afterthought (a very nice one!) and isn't one of the main ballroom/latin dances

Also the judges clearly only have marginally more clue about it than the professionals.

It's worth mentioning that Jay Hunt said the average age of a BBC1 viewer as a whole was 52. I know people seem to be under the impression that everyone under the age of 30 is off taking rave drugs in a back-alley at 6pm on a Saturday, but I wouldn't be surprised if the average Strictly viewer wasn't a bit younger given its promotion as family viewing.

Err yes. You're absolutely right, which on reflection makes it even more confusing. Still at least they didn't mention salsa as well .

I'll be buckling up for another series but I think there are serious signs that after a good few years the show is becoming stale and brokish (technical term).

I think it's probably peaked no matter what but frankly I'm glad of the wee shake-up, let's give Alesha a chance. Quite frankly replacing Len with Tom or even Muffin the Mule wouldn't do any harm either.

I can't see Anton being a dancer on the show much longer, but think he is definitely being "groomed" for some other role. If Bruce leaves, will he take his place? Or maybe if Len leaves (or better still, Bruno), he could be a judge?

I've never been a fan of Anton's dancing, but he comes over well when he's on chat shows, etc., so I think he would be quite an asset. Anyone agree?

Yes I agee. Presenting seems to be a natural progression for him and he'd still be able to perform the odd dance (ballroom of course ) and so I'd prefer that. On the other hand, if he were to be a judge, he'd have credibiity but would still need to be able to keep the light touch required for an entertainment show. I saw him judging a TV dance show (the one that Robert Webb won?) and he was very good.

The BBC are probably way ahead of you and have plans to eliminate all 'real' judges. Only those with very little knowledge will be considered.

god no. never, the show should be cancelled if that happened. he wasn't event the best of his series despite winning so you could say. leslie garret, denise lewis, colin jackson, emma bunton, matt di angelo and lisa snowdon should be judges too

And Gethin Jones but he has said he couldn't do what Alesha is doing so he is ruled out.

Thanks VL - I read that article not longer after asking you!

The reference to the AT is weird!

I totally agree and would love to see him replace Brucie when he decides to call it a day or replace a judge preferably Bruno!

Why not? How about they replace Craig with Prince Harry and Bruno with a chimpanzee. Might entice BBC2 viewers away from Saturday night wildlife documentaries.
