Seems selected BT staff will be trialing a new box over the next few months according to my mate who works for BT.
The trial boxes only come in Black, that's the only details I have.

aye - i don't expect it either.

suppose BT have nothing to gain from Freesat in terms of revenues.

Freesat gives easy access to HD services, but no easy self install. Also alienates customers who can't mount a sat dish.

Think the thing is no one knows what additional services Vision2 will provide.

Vision1 is supposed to support Freeview HD so the questions are around whether it provides something new on the VOD front.

If there's nothing really new offered then taking a punt on Freesat is not too bad. Provided it gets a PPV CAM slot it gives future compatibility and offers the chance to take custom from existing people with Satellite.

I'd be happy enough if all it did was start a bit faster from cold.

The 25xxx firmware being beta-tested at the moment has a faster boot-up. I haven't timed it recently but it is significantly quicker than the 14xxx version that most people have at the moment. I'd still like a faster boot-up though (some people are never satisfied )
