Karen would make a great judge. She's a fantastic dancer. I love Alesha and I was so pleased when she won, but I don't think she has the credentials to be a judge. She isn't a professional dancer; she won a competition. I wished Karen was the judge.

I don't understand why the BBC have got rid of Karen.

reading Karens Comments on another site, i think she really does not want to be committed to one project ( SCD ) for such a long period. She has Kids and other projects on the go.

I think she's fantastic I don't want to see her go! Do you think it's Ageism or is it just co-incidence that the people they have axed are older? Either way poor decision making!”

NO coincidence. They have spat in the faces of the older fans of the show by this ageist/populist attitude.

The show has fans who cover all age ranges - but I would guess the majority are older and female and would be outraged by these incompetent decisions.

The BBC seems to be saying "we don't care about you core fans. We want to attract younger fans (especially away from the ITV talent show) and we will do anything to achieve this. The pitiful thing is, they WON'T achieve this end. All these morons have done is to upset the fans of the show.

Karen must be working hard at her new dance school and the story does suggest that it was a mutual decision. Plus, as it also states, Darcy Bussell isn't a young scamp, and they are replacing Hayley with a dancer of the same age.

I think it's all a media storm in a teacup, which the Beeb will be fairly pleased about as it propels Strictly into the spotlight weeks before it is due to begin.

All simply my personal opinion though.”

Any suggestion that Karen's leaving was "mutual" is damage limitation from her agent. The Beeb won't be pleased at a lot of fans deserting the series in anger at the ageism and sexism (all older males are in place, are they not?) and if they think they are going to attract fans from the X Factor just because Alesha Dixon is on the panel then they have made a huge tactical error.

I refuse to watch the show.

Karen would have been a ideal replacement. But the question would still remain: why remove Arlene and Karen from their respective positions in the first place?

Why replace a skilled and competent judge with yeas of experience with a singer who knows next to nothing about judging the technicalities of dance.

They have brought in professional dancer Darcy Bussell (40 yrs old) as back-up for the later weeks to augment Alesha's woeful lack of expertise.

Ridiculous decisions. Taken by an ageing female Beeb executive also.

Alesha is a good dancer and no doubt, has an "eye" for good line and movement. But that is just not good enough. Hence Darcy Bussell to add technical expertise in the later weeks.

I'm really not sure about that.

If it was being said by anyone but Karen I would agree, but Karen made it clear last year she may not dance this year because she has so many commitments having opened her new dance studio in January. I suspect she was torn about doing it and was hoping she could stay with the show somehow, but in a less time consuming role - and that's what is going to happen.

I just can't believe she wasn't snapped up as the new judge to replace Arlene.
