They have announced that she is still very much part of Strictly, but the question is, what do we think she will be doing?

I'm hoping she'll do the mid week training review on ITT

Craig proved he knows the square root of squit all when he did it with Brian sitting there with him - Brian was contantly correcting Craig's comments....

It would be fabulous to hear the views of a QUALIFIED ballroom judge on the celebs progress...... at least she will be able to write her own scripts!

She should be replacing Arlene, not that I thought Arlene should be replaced.

But....I think more of the reporting role she did on Breakfast and perhaps more on ITT. If she's not actually dancing on the show I can't imagine what else she could be doing.

Edit: Bang on Caro!

Me personally am hoping she locks Alesha in the BBC props cupboard just before the show starts.
She can then step in and save the day

Seriously, I don't know, but whatever it is, I hope it's in front of the camera

Reading the annoucement about Karen's future with SCD, I thought it all sounded rather vague.

They seem to be making it up as they go along at the moment

I was most upset when I saw that Karen Hardy had been axed as a dancer. She has always been my favorite pro, she really takes things to heart and really wants to try her best for herself and her partner. I did not agree with the axing of Arlene, but I agree that she would have been a logical choice for a replacement.
I wish her all the best and hope that she will still have a large role within SCD or ITT!!

I was hoping that Alesha has been scared off by the negative publicity and has withdrawn leaving room for a qualified judge to replace Arlene, but pretty sure that wont happen. Alesha would get a lot of brownie points with me if she stood up and said 'sorry guys made a mistake in accepting a job that someone had to be sacked from to make way for me, and for thinking I might be qualified to do it'

A very good blog from Frankie and Clover, on why Karen should be a judge. ..and you can also vote in their poll.

Just came in to post that too, thanks Dilly!

My theory

Maybe, just maybe the BBC's plan is to have Karen on ITT talking about the training and performances instead of having any of the judges on as a way of making sure they don't run off at the mouth in the way they did last year i.e. the only comments we hear from the judges is when they are actually on the show. I'll bet the judges' contracts this year will say no speaking to the media about the show whilst the series is on.

A kind of preventative damage limitation!

Actually, it is getting a bit pathetic now.

How stupid do the BBC think is the average viewer?
They could have announced exactly what they had in mind for Karen. But that wouldn't have given the show the same amount of pre-publicity as has the situation the way it has been "staged," with today's "front page" tabloid cover.
"Questions in the House" to follow?
This is typical of the "spin" we get each year.

As I said in an earlier post, we've yet to have;

"The peformance threatening injury!"
and the ;
"Major fall-ot between pro and celeb!"

Give us break, BBC.

Perhaps they are bringing back the "red button" commentory on the night.

Now that would be a good idea!

It would- her commentary in series five was excellent as I recall. Obviously being a judge it comes naturally to her.

Not officially, I don't think.

We have had lots of news about who is NOT coming back, the rest is just guesswork

Presently, the only thing that is "happening" is that BBC is indulging in their usual annual pre-series publicity stunts for this programme, with stuff appearing in the tabloids, not discovered by "investigative journalism" but I'd guess, by deliberate leaks.
The BBC aren't daft, I guess everything is already cut and dried and if it isn't, they'll say it was anyway.
They are known to be very economical with the truth.

There's quite a lot of info on this thread that shows that a fair few have announced on their websites that they will be dancing, but nothing official yet.

Re Karen - it's my understanding she hasn't signed any contract yet as her new role is still under discussion. I'm sure the BBC have an idea what they want her to do, but I can imagine Karen will want her say!

I don't know what the BBC were thinking, hiring someone who apparently only learned to dance two years ago as their new judge. Alesha was a good competitor, but she has no authority at all as a judge. It will look ridiculous when she starts telling Vincent, Darren, Lilia and the other pros where they're going wrong, but if she doesn't, what's the point of her as a judge? If Karen was going to be dropped as a dancer, she should have been the obvious replacement for Arlene. That said, I'd have preferred to get shot of Len and Bruno before Arlene, who is generally pretty consistent and fair.

The judges judge the celebs not the pros.

I would have liked Karen as a judge though.

The judges are not there to tell the pros where they are going wrong, they are there to judge the celebs.... The pros can only win the show IF they have a good celeb and they teach them good choreography. Everybody knows the pros can dance, that is why they are Professionals after all.

To be fair, they do remark on the choreography and you can't really separate the two.

I think it's an absolute waste not to use Karen as a judge. Mentioned it on the blog last year. It's not Alesha's fault and I did like her as a contestant but I agree with everyone who says she's not qualified to judge.

Thanks very much to Dilly1 and laurab88 for posting http://frankieandcloverstrictly.blogspot.com/ before we got a DS account. Still time to vote in our poll too! Should Karen Hardy be made a Strictly judge? Uh, yeah.

I agree, but none of the judges negatively comment on the choreography very often - once in a blue moon maybe. If they comment on the choreography it is usually to praise it and I doubt if Alesha is going to be crass enough to change that trend.

I have already voted for Karen on your blog though!
