In order to survive "vote to save"...
bluebear
05-08-2009
...HM's need a fan base.

I know it's not exactly scientific, but I've just had a look at the appreciation threads. Of the surviving housemates, Lisa has got practicaly no support at all.

20 posts on her thread (as I type) despite being in the house from the beginning!

Hira has been here a much shorter time than Lisa, but at 101 posts, she has provoked people to be bothered to post, 5 times more than Lisa.
With Bea attracting 177 posts (again, as I type), that's more than 9 times more than Lisa.

I get the feeling not many will vote to save Lisa, because no one can be arsed with her.

You heard it here first,,,LISA WILL BE EVICTED ON FRIDAY!

OK, Digital Spy might not be an accuate barometer in the voting strategies of the wider GBP, but I thought it quite interesting.

I don't know if this belongs on the appreciation board per se.....but I do agree that house-mates need some kind of fan-base in order to survive in a 'vote to save' scenario.

I think you're observations are quite astute, and although they may sound 'obvious' to some, you'd be surprised how many people really struggle to make the strategical cerebral leap from:

Vote To Evict

to

Vote To Save

The 'vote to save' dynamic is reasonably reassuring when it comes to house-mates who have managed to acquire a fan-base......and these are the ones who can generally afford to throw a little bit of sideways 'charity' out there for other house-mates, depending on who they feel might be in the 'weak' sector....and therefore in need of every single vote that they can muster.

You mentioned Lisa, and this is interesting because I believe that she's generally perceived as being a nomination dodger, rather than somebody who has too much by way of public support outside the house.

The 'Vote To Save' is something that will always compromise house-mates like Lisa, because her strategy [if indeed that's what it has been]...is solely dependent on her ability to manipulate the house internally.....without really paying too much heed to the necessity to win the general public over, and acquire an external fan-base should a time arise when she might need one.

It appears that this time has arisen, and I would be very surprised if Lisa manages to survive this week, because it is essentially going to be a battle of the fan-bases....plus whatever charitable 'crumbs' are thrown to other house-mates with a view to sustaining their tenure.

There's obviously still a few days to run on this, but it will be interesting to see how it pans out.
