ITV HD recording

OK this is a real noob question - I have searched and can't find the answer. I have just got a Foxsat HDR so am still finding my way around.

How do I record an HD programme on the ITV red button? If I just set to record ITV1, how will the box know what I want to record: SD or Red button HD? Or is it intelligent enough to assume I'll want the HD version if it's available?

Providing your selecting the programme correctly it will offer a choice whether to record the SD or the HD content.. You have to press the 'OK' button and NOT the 'Record' button

If its available in HD, it will offer you a choice of SD or HD.

Have a practice run with tonights 'Grimefighters' @ 7.30pm you can simply delete it again if your not into that.

Thanks for the info. I'll try it later - don't want to do Grimefighters tonight as I've got it set up for Midsomer Murders that follows that (my first recording ) and I want to see that working first.

for any other noobs like me that are finding it just too much of a bore to find what itv hd is on during the week ahead, i found a nice lazy way without trawling through schedules which may or may not tell you if its in hd.
just press the " i " key. use up/down rocker to get onto itv...then hold down the right rocker and it will whiz through the weeks epg in a minute or so...keep eye open for the HD icon to appear in the icon list under the program name. just need to click "ok" from there and it will give the usual recording options, which makes it a nifty way of doing it.
