My first recording on my new Foxsat HDR. I had set Midsomer Murders in my schedule yesterday by pressing R with the programme selected in the Guide. I checked the Schedule and it was there OK.

I checked the box at 19:55 and it was displaying the clock, so it had booted up from standby. All working, I thought. It went past 20:00 and nothing had changed. I looked in the Schedule and it was empty. I looked in Media and that was empty too.

It wasn't until I actually tuned to ITV1 and pressed record (about 15 minutes after the programme had started) that it started recording, and REC appeared at the top of the display panel. It's now in the Media list.

So did I do something wrong?

The fact that it didn't start recording until you changed channels is a strange one.. I would do a factory reset and try making another recording. However you say in your post that you pressed 'R', I presume you meant the 'record' button, if so you need to press the 'OK' button ( as I told you in another post earlier) as this will give you options on the recording ie SD or HD if available and whether you want to make the recording a series link.. These options are not available when you just press the 'record' button.

Yes, I did mean the record button, sorry. I did what it says on page GB34 of the manual: select a programme in the EPG and press the record button. It was entered into the Schedule.

I didn't press the OK button because the manual didn't say so, and this was before your other post. Since MM is SD only, there are really no other choices to be made. The fact that the box came out of standby by itself meant that it was getting ready to do something - when exactly I'm not sure, because I came into the room at 19:55 and it was already on, showing the time. After 20:00 it stayed just the same (no REC, but I didn't know what indications to expect at the time). The Schedule list was now empty and so was the Media list.

It wasn't changing channels that started the recording: I changed to ITV1 (from BBC HD), then pressed record as on page GB68 to "record the programme you are currently viewing". It then, and only then, started recording.

I had been messing about with Non-freesat mode since setting the schedule, but it was back in Freesat mode when I previously put it into standby. I don't know if this had some effect.

I'll try a factory reset and and try another to see what happens.

Sorry to have to make such a long post!
