Is anyone else actually looking forward eagerly to this series, like I am? Is anyone else curious about the new dancers and about how Alesha, Darcey and Karen will fit in? Does anyone else not mind if Geri Halliwell is one of the celebs? Is anyone else not outraged and not poised to switch off and make a complaint to the Beeb about all the changes as soon as the series starts?

I'm really looking forward to this series. I would have preferred if they hadn't swapped Arlene for Alesha but that won't make me not watch the show. I'm excited to see what Alesha will be like as a judge and what Karen will be doing. I don't mind if Geri Halliwell is on the show, I'm not a fan of hers but it won't bother me if shes on the show.

Good, I thought I was going to be watching on my own for a minute there!

I am really looking forward too!! Ok, it will be different not having Arlene, I liked her a lot, but still excited to see all the dancers and the celebs trying to do their best...

And the best thing, dancing on television!! I wish that would happen more often in general!

Im VERY excited, despite being unsure about all the changes that are taking place! Roll on SCD7!

I can't wait!!

I'm dying to see which celebs have signed up and which pros have been paired with them

I don't really care which pros have been axed and who has been invited to replace them

I don't care who is on the judging panel (only ONE of them has any credentials to judge ballroom dancing and he is still there - I don't see why there is all the fuss about replacing one non ballroom dancer with another who actually does have more ballroom experience than the one she replaced!)

I'm looking forward to seeing Strictly Come Dancing back on my screen in the not too distant future......

The only thing I'm not looking forward to is the return of old "I'm not doddery - doddery I most definitely AM!" at an obscene salary! That's who should have been replaced IMHO!!

I CANNOT WAIT!!!

I'm not ecstaticallly happy at some of the changes, and only time will tell what kind of impact these changes have.
I for one wont be switching off...the only thing that would ever possibly make me want to boycott it would be if my own favourite pro wasn't asked to take part and even then I'd probably cave and switch on after 5 minutes

I did feel quite strongly about the whole Arlene/Alesha gate when it happened, and even emailed a complaint but I really hope the changes dont have too much of a lasting effect and if it means saving our favourite show from getting the chop.....then I want these changes to work out good.

I'll be watching anyway BRING IT ON!!!!

No, I'm not looking forward to listening to a judge who knows next to nothing about dancing. I may not watch at all.

I CANNOT WAIT!

I was so disappointed with the last series that I feel I missed out big time and seriously need a large injection of quality SCD!

It'll be bright, it'll be camp, we will moan, we will watch, and we will LOVE it - just like every year.

I can't wait either

And least all the judges on strictly know more than Posh Spice does about judging a singing comp????

I've moaned, I've complained, I've huffed, I've been disgusted and I've seen red at some of the decisions for this series

But I know damn well that come the new series I'll be sitting in front of my TV armed with wine and nibbles waiting to watch my favourite programme on TV. NO WAY could I resist the draw of sequins, sparkles, glitter and glamour that is Strictly

Absolutely! Lots of good stuff already been said, it's camp, a bit naf, but it's Strictly. OK, some of the changes seem a bit strange but it's whetted my appetite (maybe I'm easily manipulated ). But what the heck, where else can you get such kitch drama without actually having to watch soaps?

Hmm, maybe it is a soap, but I still can't wait!

Well done for starting this thread.

maybe the strictly bosses deserved a gong for ups and downs for the decisions that they have made

especially if we are calling strictly a soap

For me SCD signals the start of my favourite time of year where autumn is upon us and the winter months ahead. The 'magic' of Strictly fits in perfectly with the days getting shorter, the nights setting in and the weather getting colder. Having strictly scheduled during the summer just wouldn't work I don't think. It is an example of perfect scheduling which contributes to it making an effective family show (imo.) Sitting down to watch SCD on a Sat at around 6pm with the darkness outside and the cosiness of home inside fills me utter warmth which takes me back to my childhood. I have always loved the formality of the first five minutes of the show where the excitement is created by the following:

1) The SCD titles and music which send a chill of excitement every time I hear them.
2) The voiceover announcing "live from London, this is SCD" - again gives a sense of anticipation.
3) The introduction of the celebs/couples as they walk down the stairs to the band playing - very classy.

Yes SCD can at times become rather OTT and seems to lose this formality and still has the 'reality' tag attached to it but it is the only show for me in the past 12 years that can compete with the Saturday night TV entertainment shows that were around in the early 90s. As long as the formality continues, I will still watch SCD with great enjoyment.

I would actually love to do some research into whether the shows 'formality', which I've discussed, contributes greatly to peoples' enjoyment of the show?

What a lovely post

You're right you really could not imagine Strictly at any other time of year, autumn and winter are perfect. And of course when it finishes it's Christmas and we have the Christmas Special I can't wait ...

I love the formality of start of the show - definite scene setter - and first chance to glimpse what everyone is wearing!

Even Brucie introducing the judges every week makes me grin - and groan sometimes!

I just can't wait!

Although i am looking forward to the new series, Saturday's and Sunday nights viewing taken care of for a starter and if my fav pro gets a decent partner (cherry on the cake) there is quite a lot i am not looking forward to

Not looking forward to Alesha as i cannot see the benefit there will be to her sitting there judging others (absoulute travesty) and she really gets on my nerves

Cannot for the life of me understand why Bruce has'nt been pensioned off after last years doddery performances week on week (thank god for the MUTE button)

Hoping for some decent musical guests fed up seeing Tom Jones, Barry Manilow and John Barrowman to name just a few dont know how they are going to attract a younger audience with middle of the road musical guests

I'm looking forward to it too - and can't wait to see more of Brian and Kristina.
