Sitting down to watch SCD on a Sat at around 6pm with the darkness outside and the cosiness of home inside fills me utter warmth which takes me back to my childhood. I have always loved the formality of the first five minutes of the show where the excitement is created by the following:

1) The SCD titles and music which send a chill of excitement every time I hear them.
2) The voiceover announcing "live from London, this is SCD" - again gives a sense of anticipation.
3) The introduction of the celebs/couples as they walk down the stairs to the band playing - very classy.

Yes SCD can at times become rather OTT and seems to lose this formality and still has the 'reality' tag attached to it but it is the only show for me in the past 12 years that can compete with the Saturday night TV entertainment shows that were around in the early 90s. As long as the formality continues, I will still watch SCD with great enjoyment.

I would actually love to do some research into whether the shows 'formality', which I've discussed, contributes greatly to peoples' enjoyment of the show?”

I agree - it's like watching people dressed up and going to a wonderful, glamorous party that I'm allowed to watch.

Is anyone else not outraged and not poised to switch off and make a complaint to the Beeb about all the changes as soon as the series starts?”

I'm outraged, but if the celebs and pairings appeal to me then I'll forget the outrage

I am looking forward to it I always think I'm not too bothered from about January till nowish but as soon as real news comes out I'm hooked until the series finishes.

I might not like Alesha being a judge but then again I can just mute her if she annoys me . I have Brendan and Brian to keep me happy.

A qualified yes. I am looking forward to it (I wouldn't be posting on here if I wasn't ). However, it's not as much a 'must view' for me as it was a couple of years ago and I do have reservations about the changes that have been made. However I'm hoping for a good list of participating celebs, and improvements in other aspects of the format.

A qualified yes here too, but if anyone from the beeb is looking in it would help enormously if you could find Camilla a front row seat every week for SCD7

I think I'd put up with Basil Brush as head judge if they could organize that for me

I'll have you know that Basil is qualified to do the job:

I'm really excited about Strictly, I have minor niggles like over the whole Arlene fiasco but I'm just the same as always in that I can't wait for it to start.

Arlene would have like him then, but maybe not Len!

Another big thrill is coming on the forums after every show and discussing all the routines - love it! Do most people go onto the BBC's own Strictly boards, or here, or both?

I spent most of SCD6 on the beeb boards. To my surprise it seemed generally less argumentative and personal than it was here...

I tend to stick to here because it is more 'instant' than the Beeb boards - might venture over though there in between the shows.

Surely Basil has been a judge since start of series one? Doesn't he sit on Len's left hand side?

I'm rather excited all be it with some fairly sinister reservations. I'm going to miss Arlene and am not sure what authority Alesha is under to become a judge.

I just want some confirmation now.

I do - it would not be worth watching without Ian - so thank god he is doing it this year

I'm looking forward to loads, the cruel pleasures of watching someone (and there's always one) with a huge ego who dances like a total klutz and finally finds something they're not good at, seeing the naturals hit the ground running, and best of all seeing someone from the middle of the pack have chemistry with their partner and start to fly.

Hard to put a positive spin on the return of swivel-hips doddery (108), maybe that he will build up his immune system further after succesfully negotiating swine 'flu following a couple of weeks bed rest in Bournemouth in early September.

Yes, yes, yes, all of this! Even reading this post got me excited.

I also love returning home on the bus in the days coming up to Christmas when all the decorations are up and I have SCD to look forward to!

I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!
