Sitting down to watch SCD on a Sat at around 6pm with the darkness outside and the cosiness of home inside fills me utter warmth which takes me back to my childhood. I have always loved the formality of the first five minutes of the show where the excitement is created by the following:
1) The SCD titles and music which send a chill of excitement every time I hear them.
2) The voiceover announcing "live from London, this is SCD" - again gives a sense of anticipation.
3) The introduction of the celebs/couples as they walk down the stairs to the band playing - very classy.
Yes SCD can at times become rather OTT and seems to lose this formality and still has the 'reality' tag attached to it but it is the only show for me in the past 12 years that can compete with the Saturday night TV entertainment shows that were around in the early 90s. As long as the formality continues, I will still watch SCD with great enjoyment.
I would actually love to do some research into whether the shows 'formality', which I've discussed, contributes greatly to peoples' enjoyment of the show?”

I agree - it's like watching people dressed up and going to a wonderful, glamorous party that I'm allowed to watch.

I always think I'm not too bothered from about January till nowish but as soon as real news comes out I'm hooked until the series finishes.
