Hello. Like a lot of the others I've been lurker here for a while and really enjoy trading the forums.

Hi im new on here so sorry if ive posted it in the wrong place
For 47 years I have been 100% able bodied, yet one Sunday morning in the rain I slipped on some metal stairs and shattered my Achilles heels rendering me now temporary disabled with my lower leg is in a cast for at least 8 weeks. Having to now rely on others to help me with mundane things that I wouldn't have given a second thought to doing myself is emotionally challenging. Having to get about on 2 crutches and in a wheelchair is the biggest challenge of my life from the minute I wake up till I shut my eyes. I am learning 1st hand what it is life for people who are incapacitated or disabled and have to get by every day of their lives.
I'm writing about a sudden change in my life at being Incapacitated to hopefully open able bodied peoples minds, that their life could change in a heartbeat and to take a minute to understand how hard it is for disabled people to get by, get on a bus, cross the road, have a shower, make a cup of tea, hang the washing out, access other public services.

Sorry to hear about your accident, I hope you make a full recovery soon. I wonder if you'll still feel as strongly about disability once you recover. I hope so.
