Really disappointed that they haven't kept Rebecca Lowe and Clive Allen for the highlights package they did for matchday one.

I am going to record the highlights in a few minutes, when the show is repeated on ESPN, but I am annoyed that there is such a heavy emphasis on Fulham. I like highlights shows not to be too laden and heavy towards one game. Oh well, onto the DVD it goes nevertheless

I tink you'll find the show cost about three times as many pounds as people who watched it.....money better spent elsewhere...

Fair enough. It does make sense.

I actually don't mind the various highlights aspect of the show. Seems like a more polished Eurogoals.

Well thats a bit crap.

I record the first part of their show, 50 minutes of Valencia-Genoa, then shey show the same games goals in the highlights show.

That's me shown! I now have 50 minutes of the CFV-Genoa game, when I didn't really want it, oh well

ITV will show Celtic
ESPN is left with Everton as third pick.
Fourth pick (ITV) will be Lazio v Villarreal
No idea what ESPN's fifth pick game will be.

Will that be simulcast on Scottish TV? Would make sense IMO... Celtic v Hamburg is a classic.

Five's Europa League games are being streamed on the iPhone. £3.99 for the season.

Interesting experiment, especially given the current climate.

Yeah, I know... But why shouldn't STV simulcast it in Scotland to maximise viewer figures?
Mark.

Digiguide doesn't have STV showing it.

I'm guessing that either the rights were bought by ITV Plc, or STV haven't chipped in.

Its interesting, the difference is its alongside rather than replacing the TV coverage.

Good news will be watching this along with the Lazio game on ITV 4.

If a British team's progress in the competition is dependent on both their result and the result in the simultaneous other final group game, would five / ITV / ESPN (showing the British team) be allowed to show goals from the other game as they happened (assuming no-one bought the rights to that game) or would they have to buy the rights to both games?

Or have UEFA not thought about that one and we'll just get a silly scorebar?

scorebar i would imagine

only sky and bbc who have implemented goals in goals split screen and thats only cos they have the rights

not sure what else you couuld expect

Five aren't allowed to do this.
ITV and ESPN could do this if they pick the other game as their second pick.

In reality it isn't an issue, as none of the British teams will be in that position: Everton can qualify on MD4, barring another disaster like last night; Celtic will be eliminated on MD4, barring a miracle (in which case they will be elimiated on MD5), and Fulham could qualify on MD4 but may have to wait until MD5.

ITV has secod pick this time aroud, and has chose Roma v Fulham. ESPN has third and fourth picks, and will have Hamburg v Celtic and Villarreal v Lazio. ITV's fifth choice game sees reigning champions Shakhtar Donetsk at Toulouse.

Teaser No. 2: Assuming God is having a quiet few weeks in the office and there are still a few groups to be decided on MD6, there could be a situation were no British broadcaster wants the final Celtic match. What happens then, is someone responsible of ensuring coverage or would the rights revert to Celtic?

Somebody in another country might be interested in it if you get where I'm headed. The match will still be filmed as usual-it's just that nobody here wants to show it. the rights won't revert to Celtic-they are all centralised a'la the Champions League.

It would effectively be the same as all the other games across europe that the UK broadcasters don't show.

Sounds confusing, but it isn't. If it's not one of the five picks by the UK broadcasters, nobody shows it in this country. Simple.

I misread the fixtures, I thought Celtic were at home on MD6.

The question stands though - what if none of the home territory's rights holders pick a team's home game?

That would never happen.

Is that contractual? I admit the scenario is far-fetched this season but if more British teams make the group stages / drop down from CL its possible in future years. Speaking of which, what if six British teams were to make the group stage?
