Without them you could have only 8 groups of 4 teams

And then more importantly

Straight into a round of 16 in Spring

and Not 4 games in 5 weeks with Rounds of 32 and 16

Only then would the English teams make more of an effort and stop complaining of too many games

English teams can get a grip. Outwith qualifing rounds you have 2 extra games compared to the UCL to win this thing. I'll always laugh at a moderately decent squad sized team (Liverpool/Spurs - I look at you) who moan at playing Thursday-Sun/Mon football when UCL guys can play Tues night-Sat lunch or Wed-Sat eve/Sun lunch.

Extra time in the National Stadium at Ta'Qali. Europe is watching Birkirkara vs. West Ham!

Would imagine that would be an all time low for English teams in Europe.

I can't see West Ham getting to the group stages

Good investment by McDonald's in the shirt sponsorship for Birkirkara.

It's down to the penalty shootout now.

After a confident performance, West Ham are through.

British teams in the 3rd qualifying round (30th July & 6th August):
Southampton FC (ENG) v Vitesse (NED)
West Ham United FC (ENG) v FC Astra Giurgiu (ROU)
FC Kairat Almaty (KAZ) v Aberdeen FC (SCO)

They might enjoy the extra long work out but then West Ham didn't play well at all!

We wont if we carry on playing our reserves in these games. Need to start playing our first team.

I would say out of the players who started last night, only two are guaranteed starters for our first Premier League game!!

There didn't seem to be. The coverage started where you could hear both Welsh and English commentaries on top of each other. No worries.

I dont they think will be showing it to be honest, although it wouldn't hurt the attendence, as its nearly SOLD OUT AGAIN!!

More likely our 2nd Leg will be shown.

West Ham seem to be taking the Celtic approach

No live Tv but get the game sold out with cheap tickets

West Ham 2-2 Astra Giurgiu
So who's going to pick up the 2nd leg now? Should be another thriller.

Southampton 3-0 Vitesse Arnhem
The 2nd leg is live on BT Sport Europe next Thursday at 7pm.

Kairat Almaty 2-1 Aberdeen
Will Aberdeen sell the rights for the return leg?

Why were BT Sport advertising it as 7:30pm when the kick-off is 7pm?

They're not. Or if they were, they're not any more. BTSport.com TV guide has the programme starting at 7pm.

Was surprised to see the size of some of the teams, who are playing Europa League Qualis this early.

Dortmund, stood out when Lindsay Hipgrave, was giving the results the other night.

Out of the 2 games BT showing on Thursday, I will probably choose the West Ham game, as it has more hanging on it.
