He was presenting sports bulletins on the BBC News Channel last week, so suspect he know works for the BBC if on the News channel it maybe full time so not available for BT.
Would he really want to be 3rd choice after Linekar and Humphreys? |

I seem to always miss the BBC News bulletins where Matt Smith presents the sport. But it's something I'd like to see, because it's a role I just can't visualise him in.

I am following on ITV highlights only at this stage of the competition. The programme is a whole load better this season with proper as it happens commentary than it used be as a one hour programme on ITV4 on Fridays with its newsreel style commentary (which seems to have been adopted by BT Sport to its detriment).

BT Sport (non red button) games chosen
Matchday 3 Thu 22 Oct : Anderlecht v Tottenham - 6 (BT Sport Europe) Thu 22 Oct : Schalke v Sparta Prague - 6 (BT Sport 2) Thu 22 Oct : Liverpool v Rubin Kazan - 805 (BT Sport Europe) Thu 22 Oct : Molde v Celtic - 805 (BT Sport 2) They have put Schalke game on Showcase (Freeview only) and to make sure there is a separate Scottish team presenting the Celtic game will be on ESPN Meaning Matt Smith will present a double header at 6 of Tottenham and then at 805 Fenerbahce v Ajax on BT Sport Europe Which leaves no game on BT Sport 2 to start with until a preview and showing of the Liverpool game done by Jake Humphrey |

Bit poor that BT aren't bothering to show the Dortmund game that gets underway at 16.00 UK time.
Also was Schalke-Sparta due to be sown on BTS 2 and has been pulled? Why only 1 live game starting at 18.00?? |

Thoroughly enjoyed the Champions League football this week on BT Sport. It's an added bonus that BT doesn't lock down their HD channels to Sky boxes - with the England matches too, it's been a while since I was able to watch that much HD footy in a short amount of time.

I think BT's coverage has surprised quite a few people how they have easily matched and out done Sky on their coverage.
No way has it been second rate and their goal coverage has been excellent. I think BT's UCL & UEL coverage has been excellent! Its a breath of fresh air from the stale boring crap that Sky chucked out. And id much rather watch it live than highlights, esp on ITV!!!!! |

I think BT's coverage has been good. I think their co-commentators are where they fall short compared to Sky. The Goals Show has been excellent. Surprisingly, Gary Lineker has made quite a few mistakes, but he has extenuating circumstances.

Lineker did seem to be bumbling over his words when doing links last night. He is excellent though when steering discussion and the like
