Also just to add other members in this thread have mentioned other clubs from different countries dont moan with dodgy kick off times, my answer to that is who cares? You have to look out for number 1, if they have got issues with their kick off times they should kick up a fuss.

You get nothing if you dont ask.

Spurs raised the white flag with their Team selection

No more contribution from them towards the English Uefa Coefficient !!!!

Co-efficient points tables updated after tonight:

5 years to 2015/16 (ie ranking to be used at end of this season) - with just the rest of this season to go:

England comfortably in 3rd:

England 74.159
Italy 70.439

http://kassiesa.home.xs4all.nl/bert/...crank2016.html

5 years to 2016/17 (ie ranking to be used at end of next season) - with the rest of this season + all of next season to go:

Italy just 3rd, England 4th, but incredibly close:

Italy 59.082
England 58.909

http://kassiesa.home.xs4all.nl/bert/...crank2017.html

I think we should overtake Italy in the 2016/17 table by the end of this season - as long as Juventus lose to Bayern. If so, we should have at least two teams in the QFs (ie Man City + Man Utd/Liverpool) whereas Italy would only have one (Lazio - assuming they get through).

NB. Ranking determines qualifiers a year in advance - ie ranking at end of this season determines number of teams in the 2017/18 CL.

So it will be really important to have a good season in Europe NEXT season then...

Well we could have some big clubs in the Europa League

Chelsea Liverpool Man United possibly.

Lets hope they all take it seriously

Probably why that European Super league stuff cropped up again.

Fear of missing out on the big money with the other big boys.

Exactly

The top teams always got in every year

Firstly Liverpool missed out
Then Man United
Now Chelsea

Even Arsenal maybe soon

On the other hand will Leicester and Spurs and possibly West Ham do well enough for our co efficient next season ???

But with Man U and there position, it is to do with the Manager and how they play, maybe the tPTB should have said to LVG at the beginning of season, we don't care what tactics you like, this is what we want, if you don't like it, there is the door.

And the Chelsea situation, surely if you're a player you give 100 per cent in every game, even if you don't like the manager, you should still give it your best, as you are playing for the club not the manager, and you are playing to be in the Champions League and not Europa League

And now the players like Oscar and Hazard will say in the summer

I want to leave to play Champions League Football

Was it not their fault ??

Things change though, maybe these big clubs who are struggling should look at themselves.

what will be will be,

The plus point now for the clubs is

The PL tv deal is now so huge that even missing on CL money for one season will not seriously effect them

In my eyes it was there fault, they should have played for the club, the fans, the Chairman.

Unlikely when you have the media continuing to push the "Europa League affects domestic performance" agenda.

http://www.skysports.com/football/ne...-domestic-form

I still fail to see the difference between Thursday-Sunday and Wednesday-Saturday. The former is complained about constantly; the latter is accepted as part of being in Europe.

How have our Pundits and Journos got into thinking like this.

While over in Europe other countries think different

The teams who play in Europe, are used to playing on a Sunday anyway, it's a weird one

If we had some pundits who actually did some research

Then maybe they will understand that the Europa League performances will mean the loss of the 4th CL place

Then maybe they will stop complaining about it

Luckily for England it is Spain wbo take most of the points and not Italy

This article is on a Sky website who have no coverage of the Europa League

If the Europa was on Sky the article would be different !!!

Sky don't cover the Champions League either but they see that as the holy grail.

Not sure if this has been asked before, who gets the Champions League place reserved for the Europa League winners if the latter have qualified for the Champions League through their domestic league position?
Judio
11-03-2016
They just give the highest country who goes into CL qualifying a place in the group stages

And then move others around

No one gets it directly
Judio
11-03-2016
Thanks to Bert Kassies site

If the CL title holder already qualified for the group stage of the Champions League by the domestic league, then the Europa League title holder qualifies directly for the group stage.
Otherwise the Europa League title holder starts in the play-off round for Non-Champions

.
If both the CL cup holder and the EL cup holder qualified for the group stage by their domestic league, then the champion of the 13th country on the country ranking list will gain direct access to the group stage, the champion of the 16th country on the country ranking list will gain direct access to the 3rd qualifying round, and the champions of the 47th and 48th country on the country ranking list will gain direct access to the 2nd qualifying round. Similar changes (with priority to champions) are made if the cup holder already qualified for one of the qualification rounds.

If the EL spot is not needed, no other country gets an additional spot, they just rejig the numbers coming in at each of the earlier qualifying rounds.

Also, bear in mind that if, as an example, Liverpool win the Europa League this year but finish 3rd in the league, they would qualify for the CL anyway and England would not have 5 teams in the event, just the usual 4.
Judio

We can have Five but not six

The extreme case

Top 4 Leics Spurs Arsenal West Ham

CL winners Man C
Europa winners Liverpool

This would mean West Ham get only Europa League
Ginger Daddy
11-03-2016
Well yes but in my example we would still only get 4. The only way a nation gets extra spots is if the CL/EL winner is OUTSIDE the CL spots in its own league.
