They are WRONG to say 4th WILL miss out

You can have FIVE teams in CL now

The Only way 4th can miss out is
MAN CITY win CL
LIVERPOOL win EL

Man City come 5th or lower
Liverpool come 5th or lower

It was the Man City and Liverpool both winning scenario they were getting at.

This will probably be a daft Question but I'm going to ask.

Who supplies the theme music for the UCL and UEL Shows.

If it is BT, why have they gave the Europa League something more upbeat and it is like the second rate competition..

But the Champions League, still has that Highbrow music, which has been used for ages.

Both pieces of music are provided by UEFA.

The Champions League theme tune is iconic and should never be changed, always get goosebumps listening to it, especially in the big games.

Absolutely, very similar to Coronation Anthem No. 1 from Zadok The Priest by Handel, it's a classic and fits the CL perfectly, they'll still be using it in 50 years for the top Euro competition. I say similar to Zadok, it's supposed to be an original composition but it's so similar that if Handel hadn't been dead for so long, he'd have had them for copyright!

EL music is just some here today gone tomorrow clip of contemporary film-style music, catchy for a few years then they'll want another one (again). As for the football, well it looks like it's bye bye Liverpool in the next round...

It was "inspired" by Zadok The Priest, although it has got to the stage where when the next monarch is crowned people will be thinking the football is about to start.

BT also used it in their "new home of European football" adverts before they were officially allowed to use the CL music.

You could see Dortmund v Liverpool happening before the draw.

I said earlier Sky were a bit quick, on doing a piece about the 4th place team missing out on the UCL with both City and Liverpool win the European Tournaments

I understood in this situation the EL winners fail to qualify for the CL at all, and instead have to settle with qualifying for the following season's EL?

I don't think there's any situation where 4th in the PL can miss out on CL? Happy to stand corrected though.

Whilst Leicester will of course struggle next year, and are very unlikely to get even top 4. They do have huge money coming their way. So they can bolster the squad in numbers if not quality.

The Rules are as follows
If the UEFA Champions League titleholder and the UEFA Europa League
titleholder come from the same association and do not qualify for the
competition through their domestic championship, one of the following scenarios
applies:
a. If the association is entitled to four places in the competition and both
titleholders qualify for the UEFA Europa League through their domestic
championship, the lowest-placed of the association’s UEFA Champions League
representatives is automatically transferred to the UEFA Europa League (into
the UEFA Europa League group stage where a vacancy is created).
In this case,
the association of the titleholders is entitled to one additional place (total of
five) in the UEFA Champions League, but the combined number of places to
which it is entitled in the two competitions does not change.

b. If the association is entitled to four places in the competition and only one
titleholder qualifies for the UEFA Europa League through its domestic
championship, the lowest-placed of the association’s UEFA Champions League
representatives is automatically transferred to the UEFA Europa League (into
the UEFA Europa League group stage and the access list will be rebalanced
accordingly). In this case, the association of the titleholders is entitled to one
additional place (total of five) in the UEFA Champions League, but the number
of places to which it is entitled in the UEFA Europa League does not change.

c. If the association is entitled to four places in the UEFA Champions League and
neither titleholder qualifies for the UEFA Europa League through its domestic
championship, the lowest-placed of the association’s UEFA Champions League
representatives is automatically transferred to the UEFA Europa League (into
the UEFA Europa League group stage and the access list will be rebalanced
accordingly). In this case, the association of the titleholders is entitled to one
additional place (total of five) in the UEFA Champions League and one
additional place (total of four) in the UEFA Europa League.

The UEFA Europa League titleholder is guaranteed a place in the competition as a
minimum in the play-offs. It will have priority filling a vacancy created in the
group stage or in the play-offs by the UEFA Champions League titleholder.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I do indeed stand corrected.

The moral of the story is don't always believe what you read on Wikipedia!

Correct we are already a full 1 and a half ranking points ahead of Italy in next seasons race.

http://kassiesa.home.xs4all.nl/bert/...crank2017.html

If Man City and Liverpool can get 8 more points this season (2 for a win, 1 for a draw , 1 bonus point for reaching final) this will go up to Two and a half
Judio

Europa League Title Holders

As long as Man City do not win the CL then if Liverpool win the Europa they will go directly into CL GROUP Stages next season.

As Real Bayern and Atletico have already qualified for Group Stages in the CL via League position
