So how comes we have seven games live this week? Two extra games on ESPN. Will they be able to do that on MD6?

And also, can someone please post or direct me to the plan for live coverage during the knockouts - who show's how many games live?
Not 100% sure to be honest but I'm sure from QF it is 1-Five, 1-ITV 4, 2-ESPN and SF 1-Five and 1-ESPN with the Final on Five. Up until then not sure, apart from Five getting first pick each round.

EDIT

Just realised, I think this was the deal when Setanta were in the frame, I'm presuming ESPN bought Setanta's rights.

So it's been a happy coincidence that on the first five matchdays the best game has always been a British club at home with a Thursday 8.05pm kick off.
If Everton qualify and Fulham don't lose on MD5, I expect Five will go for Fulham's game away on a Wednesday at 6pm on MD6.

I think Five have been very clever so far, they have picked games to appeal to both fans of the clubs and neutrals alike (at 8pm). Fulham v Roma was a fantastic occassion, Celtic v Rapid Vienna has huge history and now they're looking at games that are important for qualification.

I believe that ITV4 and ESPN get one semi-final leg each, whilst FIVE get two legs, although it wasn't ever confirmed whether FIVE's semi legs had to be both in the same tie or whatever.

Five have to pick one first leg and one second leg.
ITV have the next pick, and ESPN gets what is left.

If ITV get a Liverpool game what chance it will end up on ITV1?

Extremely slim to none. I think its in "the contract" that the games have to be on itv4, in the same way that the Champions League and Super Cup matches have to be on itv1.

Not 100% sure, but theres probably others who can confirm that.

I thought the contract was won by "ITV4", indicating that ITV4 and ITV4 alone has the rights.

I didn't realise ITV4 is a company?

Are UEFA so suicidal that they won't let ITV promote a game to a bigger channel?

I can't see how UEFA are suicidal in all this. They've sold the rights to ITV4 for a certain amount. They won't lose out at all by the game not being shown on ITV1.

The contract is with ITV plc. Its just whether theres a clause that the games must be on ITV4, which would be silly as it prevents UEFA's competition, and sponsors, getting greater exposure to a bigger audience.

Remember they moved Corrie to Thursday so they could show Champions League on ITV1 on Wednesdays, will they be able to justify moving it again to show Liverpool on a Thursday?

But it could be argued that Fulham v Roma was the best game.
AriusK,
I said there were a number of other factors not that best game was the only one.

I would imagine that Five will be very interested in Liverpool's games...

Two factors to consider. If Liverpool are playing at 8pm they will probably end up on FIVE as they have 1st pick, secondly, Liverpool at 6pm would not appeal to ITV 1.

Looks like ESPN have bought the UK rights to all the remaining games, if you try to watch any (other than ITV / Five) on the uefa website you must pay them the pricely sum of £1.99. And I was looking forward to FC Sheriff v FC Steaua Bucharest.

Surprised STV couldn't have come to a deal to show the Celtic game tonight (which is on ITV4).

Could you watch the other games on there for free usually?

Didn't know that.

OK if you happen to be stupid enough to be reading this thread and you don't want to know the results look away now.

Everton won 1-0 and are through but are unlikely to win the group.

Celtic won 2-0 but Hamburg won against Rapid Vienna which means Celtic are out.

Overall in the Europa League we know now that both Liverpool and Everton are in the last 32. Fulham could yet join them both although obviously it depends on the final 2 sets of results.

I would have thought 5s choice for matchday 6 will depend on Fulhams result tomorrow night.

Looking at the TV listings for Match Day 6:

ESPN have two live matches on Wednesday 16 December at 6.00pm and 8.05pm. No idea who they are showing on both matches.

Both ESPN and ITV are showing two games each on Thursday 17 December at 6.00pm and 8.05pm. Still no idea on what games are to be shown on both channels.

However, Five are showing Everton v BATE Borisov (k.o. 8.05pm). Programme is scheduled for 7.30pm to 10.15pm on Thursday 17 December.

That seems a strange choice, I guess they will change it if Fulham get the required result they need tonight?

Colin Murray stating FIVE's intentions there...

"With Everton's qualification from the Group Stage, we are one step closer to a Merseyside Derby in the Europa League, which you would be able to see exclusively here on FIVE."

Well of course they will, they have the first pick and would be crazy to ignore it.

From the round of 32 I would of thought five will now only pick everton or liverpool even if fulham progress.

I would be amazed if five ever pick fulham over liverpool.
