After todays Europa League draw, you would think that Five, ITV4 and ESPN will take the following games:

Five - 18/02/10 - 20.05 - Liverpool vs. Unirea
ITV4 - 18/02/10 - 20.05 - Fulham vs. Shakhtar
ESPN - 16/02/10 - 17.45 - Everton vs. Sporting
ITV4 - 18/02/10 - 18.00 - Ajax vs. Juventus
ESPN - 18/02/10 - 20.05 - Hamburg vs. PSV

I hope the ITV Sport Channel takes the games. Oh, wait.

No.
Five has first pick, and everyone assumes they will show Liverpool. But they haven't committed to that yet, so none of the other games can be picked.

It's six weeks away yet anyhow.

The Everton game is now confirmed on ESPN so we just have to wait for Itv and Five to decide between Liverpool and Fulham.

Best game is the Everton game - I am surprised the Liverpool game went first.

5.45 kick-off on a Tuesday, when there is Champions League at 7.45 is a terrible timeslot.

Whatever audience you get is going to switch over at full time. Particularly on Five, where they'd have to follow the football with at least 30 minutes of news (or Live from Studio Five).

Liverpool the first pick? Shockaroony...

It will be interesting to see who is first pick for the away legs I would of thought Everton with the only 20.05 kickoff.
But as Liverpool are now in the competition maybe Five will just show them so long as their in the competition but that game could be all over after the first leg.

Who has second pick Espn or Itv?

Makes sense for ESPN as Wigan v Bolton will follow Everton v Sporting Lisbon at 8pm (assuming they are showing the re-arranged Wigan v Bolton game that they were originally due to show).

I'm sure Five will wait until the first legs have been played, but even so I think Everton at 8.05pm will be better for them in terms of viewers than Liverpool at 6pm.

ESPN gets second pick of the second leg in the round of 32.

ESPN will also show Panathinaikos v AS Roma, so they've got three 1st leg matches altogether.

I agree with the bold part, Unirea could be out of sight and already in the next round, by the time of the second leg.

I was quite surprised at first when I found out Everton's kick-off is going to be 5.45pm next Tuesday, especially that its a home tie and most would be finishing work as this game is about to start.

Typical that it's not at 8.05pm because of the Champions League kicking off at 7.45pm.

It's only at 5.45 because they have special dispensation from UEFA. Under the rules, the game should kick off at 5pm.

5pm? That's really early especially for a weekday kick-off in the UK.

UEFA dont care about the fans

Q: Why did they name it Europa League?!

It sounds like a Mickey Mouse land or something . Surely they have better creative PR teams in UEFA.........or maybe not.

In 10 years time another genius at UEFA Creative & Marketing department will come with another brilliant idea and call it The Jiff League .

Europa is Latin for Europe.
