It would fit well into ESPN with their coverage of European Leagues and they do not have a lot on on a thursday (if they do correct me) except some rubbish baseball. Or even Sky Sports as they normally do not have any football on Thursdays and Hearts/Celtic (fit into Scottish coverage)/English side unchosen/St Patrick's Athletic (irish viewers) may attract viewers if needed on Thursday nights.

What has Europa League got to do with Baseball anyway?
man utd 09 as for being one fo the worlds biggest supporters of Manchester United as you claim, then I guess you would not have time to appreciate Baseball. Edit, just noticed St Pats was mentioned in the same thread as Rubbish Baseball, it get even more bizarre. |

If any other channel (other than Five or ITV4) picks up rights for these Europa League qualifiers we can probably assume they are at least considering going for Setanta's previous rights for the group stages and beyond.
...then again the BBC and particularly BBC Scotland have been showing games from the early rounds of the UEFA Cup for years but apparently the BBC did not even bid for the Europa League when the rights came up last year so who can tell what will happen? Also, it is possible that some broadcasters might be waiting to see what happens to the FA Cup rights first. |

Maybe they are waiting to see if Arsenal end up in the Europa League first, though the alternative is Celtic, which must still have some attraction.
It's really a pity UEFA haven't considered the non-English angle to the broadcasting of the Europa League. They seem to (wrongly) believe that because there is a British TV market, the TV companies see all the teams as "home" teams, but that clearly isn't the case. I'm sure Five and ITV4 would rather show two non-British teams than show the likes of Hearts. The unfortunate thing is that a lot people don't rate Scottish football very highly, unlike years ago when the likes of Dundee Utd and Aberdeen had some great seasons in Europe. |

I've never watched baseball until I subscribed to ESPN last week. I always assumed it would be really boring to watch, but it's okay. What I don't understand is how a lot of Americans make fun of football for being boring but love baseball. A game of baseball takes like three hours to finish and most of the time the batters don't even hit the ball, so you spend the majority of the time watching a guy swing a bat and miss lol.

I can't help but think that UEFA have really mucked up the rights selling for the qualifing rounds of the Europa League.
Out of the 6 legs involving English clubs it seems like only 1 of them is on TV. |

I guess it is possible that some more of the second legs might get bought up pending the results of the first legs. However, Crystal Palace vs Manchester City in the Carling Cup is now also scheduled against the Europa League second legs on Thursday 27 August on Sky Sports. |

These games are sold individually by the clubs. It's only sold by UEFA from the group stage onwards,

Shame Sky never got Europa League Rights and broadcasted them in the same format as the Champions League. I am looking forward to watching Salzburg v Maccabi Haifa via the red button on Wednesday Night, how great would it be if the Europa League fixtures were showing on multi-screen.
