Qualifying matches are sold individually by the home clubs. Only the CL play-off round is included in the CL rights deal.

Liverpool will have to play TWO play off rounds to make the Group Stages
As Carling Cup Winners they will start on August 2nd in the Third Qualifying Round Newcastle start three weeks later in the 4th Qualifying Round Liverpool are joined by big hitters Marseille and Inter Milan The Final English side will go straight into the Group Stages Either Chelsea or Tottenham |

I know Chelsea won the cup, so not sure who has preference 5th place or FA Cup winners if Bayern beat Chelsea. By the way I'm a Spurs fan & would normally support Chelsea but with the Champions Lge final deciding. Our own participation and the inevitable knock on effect on transfers in & out I will be supporting Bayern Munich. Regards, Dan. |

Wouldn't Newcastle be in the group stage due to their lge position?

If Chelsea lose they are in the EL group stage as FA cup winners. Liverpool and Newcastle are unaffected either way! EDIT: JUDIO BEAT ME TO IT

Here we go again
Main Change this season is ITV 4 get first two games and FIVE get none ITV has agreed a deal to become the lead UK broadcaster of UEFA Europa League in a three-year agreement that ends Channel 5's coverage of the tournament. The commercial broadcaster has picked up the TV rights to the first and second picks of Europa League matches from the 2012-13 to 2014-15 seasons inclusive. ESPN has picked up the remaining rights. ITV will show most of its matches on digital channel ITV4 and website ITV.com, but any games featuring UK teams from the quarter-finals onwards will be shown on ITV1. The broadcaster will also air a highlights programme each week of the competition. ESPN has grabbed the remaining rights and will show at least one game per kick-off slot each matchweek on its UK channel, as well as a highlights package. Group Stage Fixtures http://www.uefa.com/MultimediaFiles/...6_DOWNLOAD.pdf Week One 20 Sep 2012 18.00 Young Boys - Liverpool 18.00 Marítimo - Newcastle United 20:05 Tottenham Hotspur - Lazio |

I have a feeling that Newcastle fans will need an ESPN subscription.

All of Newcastle's matches are at the same time as Liverpool's. So I expect all their matches to be on ESPN because Itv4 will choose the Liverpool games.

I'd still expect at least one Newcastle game in the first 4. Probably the second game week. |

Yeah perhaps the final game of the group stages will be Newcastle on Itv4. But Im sure for all other games, Itv4 will pick Liverpool. Last weeks Liverpool game on Itv4 got 1.3million viewers but yesterdays Newcastle game got 0.8m. Liverpool get the bigger ratings which is what Itv will choose matches based on.

Agree ITV will always pick Liverpool then whichever of Spurs or Newcastle which does not clash and looks the most interesting game. However probably Spurs as a London team has a higher advertising value for ITV.
ESPN are probably hoping some of the English CL 4 drop into Europa after the CL group stage, as may well give them a 2nd English team to show. |

They'll all (apart from the possible one or two) be on Thursdays this year as UEFA have moved MD5 AND MD6 to the same week as the CL to ease fixture congestion.

Spurs are always in their own time slot out of the English teams. The choice only comes down to a choice between Liverpool and Newcastle for every match.
