And also Celtic as well.??

Liverpool need to match Young Boys Result with a Win or Draw

A Defeat would knock them out

Spurs need to draw or win at home to make sure we
have 3 in the Last 32

The 8 Rejects from Champions League will be decided the same week

Celtic potentially but they can still progress in the CL if they better the result at home to Spartak Moscow that Benfica get away at Barcelona

Kinda, winner gets the top spot in the group which results in you being seeded and avoiding the top teams from the CL

]The Europa League draw will take place on Thursday December 20th at 1pm GMT, when the draws for the Round of 32 and Round of 16 will both be conducted.

Newcastle/Spurs/Chelsea/Man City/Liverpool (if ]the other 4 make the EL) can't face each other in the round of 32 but can be paired in the round of 16
Alongside that Newcastle, Liverpool and Spurs can't face the other team that qualified from their group

Not the best thread for my post, since it relates to the CL, but I can't find a corresponding thread for that competition.

Next week, Sky are showing Chelsea v Nordsjaelland on SS2. Chelsea's and Celtic's futures are both in the balance, but whether or not Chelsea advance will surely depend on the other game in their group, since I can't see them having any other result than an easy win, which mightnt be enough.

On the other hand Celtic's progress is highly dependent on their own match, since the only need to better Benfica's result, against Spartak and Barsa respectively. I do know that SS3 are showing the Celtic game, but a lot of people only have the first two sky sports channels, probably why sky are showing the less interesting game on one of them.

I don't really think it's because Sky deliberately want to put the 'best' match on SS3. To them I imagine Chelsea and Celtic are the two main games with qualification ridiong on them, and they think Chelsea are the better pick for SS2 (main game) as they feel more would watch Chelsea

At the end of the day, even if Celtic aren't quite as reliant on other results as Chelsea, if Benfica do win, Celtic are screwed

The Europa League family sends out a big welcome to Chelsea FC (best 3rd-placed team ever)!

Newcastle aren't going to get a look in now if Spurs and Liverpool manage to qualify too

When will ITV start showing English clubs on the main channel? From the quarters onwards? Or could it happen earlier, with possible ties like Chelsea v Inter, or Atlético v Liverpool? There could even be an all-English duel in the Round of 16.

There are some really good teams again in the Europa League like last season, Inter, Atletico Madrid, Napoli, Marseille, Lyon, Fenerbahce, Besiktas, Anzhi, Lazio, Zenit, Dynamo Kyiv, Metalist, Hannover 96, Bordeaux (phew), I don't think Chelsea will last the distance personally, but any of those fixtures against one of the English teams will be worth tuning in for, I mean, Chelsea vs Fenerbahce, would be a cracker that.

And the English club Managers as well !!!

The German clubs could push England down to 3rd in the Country Rankings by next season

If they go down to 4th they will only get 3 Champions League Spaces !!!

The gap between England and 4th (Italy) is currently quite substantial

Wont happen for years.

Well there will be a maximum of 4 teams from England and 4 slots for TV, 2 on ITV and 2 on ESPN. So they will be shown on TV.

ITV will show matches on ITV1 from the QFs onwards, although they CAN at any stage of the competition.

There wasn't any build up to the Newcastle match and none of the usual presenters on ESPN. I wonder why?

Lack of material? Newcastle didn't do their press conference yesterday due to their flight being stuck in snow at Newcastle Airport.

Or not sending resources to a game that both sides are playing incredibly weakened teams in

Combination of the above. Especially with a game with something riding on it, but will get minimal ratings at 8.05 with Genk v Basel, it's a Commentary only job tonight for both games. It sounds to me Champion and Waddle are offtube too.

It sounds as bad as the Cricket Test Match in India where Sky commentators are off tube because of contractual reasons.

Not really. Standard practice with offtubing! We've been luckier this season actually, ESPN have actually bothered to send commentators out to Newcastle's other two away games this season. Last two seasons when Liverpool or Celtic etc have been in action they have offtubed all the group away games.
