Liverpool through! For the second season in a row the first knockout round in the Europa League concerns more English clubs than the equivalent in the CL..

Just wondering, what would ITV have done if there had been a delay in the first game?

Would they show the second match on a delay, or just join the second game in progress after the first game had finished?

The crappy low camera position being used for the Spurs game again.

I know, how many times do we have to go through this? Sort it out UEFA, ITV or whoever is responsible, this is unwatchable.

Would it hurt ITV to show Newcastle once in awhile? we've been stuck on ESPN since the qualifying round. A channel not all of us have or a willing to pay for.

To put it simply, yes it would, viewing figures would be lower.

The Maritimo game was definitely off-tube, the only UK commentators in the stadium were from BBC Newcastle radio. I thought the game in Brugge was off-tube too if I'm honest.

I'm pretty sure all of ESPN's Europa games not played in the UK are done offtube, unless a team goes far, they were onsite for the Hamburg v Fulham semi 1st leg in 2010

Are the teams "paired" for the last 32 draw. (This means that teams will have different kick off times.)

I assume if so, Chelsea and Liverpool will be paired ensuring they kick off at different times, and their matches will always be on ITV.

And then Tottenham and Newcastle will be on ESPN.

And it was obvious ITV would choose Liverpool tonight over Newcastle. Liverpool were not certain if they would go through or not, Newcastle were already through.

”

As I understand it, two seeded teams from the same country won't kick off at the same time... so Chelsea and Liverpool would be kept apart.

I pondered this before, especially if there was a chance of going into extra time, and ariusuk said it would be the latter. They almost had a problem for ITV last season when there was a floodlight failure in the 6pm match but they got to the 8.05 game with about a minute to spare.

Normally the English clubs will get the 805 HOME game

So logic suggests

Thursday Feb 14

600 Liverpool and Chelsea away

805 Newcastle and Spurs at Home

Thursday Feb 21

600 Newcastle and Spurs away

805 Liverpool and Chelsea at Home

So ESPN wil be pleased that they will get Chelsea on both nights !!!!

arius explained above that Liverpool and Chelsea are likely to be kept apart.

On the face of it, that will probably mean two Liverpool/Chelsea double-headers on ITV.

But which English club would want a 600 kick off time at home ???

Ah, I'd forgotten that where each leg is played is based on where you finished.

Liverpool topping their group and Chelsea being seeded from the CL creates a complication with keeping them apart.

Man City played their home leg at 6pm last year, as did Liverpool in 2011.

With centralised marketing being in place, UEFA dictates the kick-off times. I guess Eastern European clubs aren't happy about matches at 10pm (local time) either.
