But a large amount of people who are watching ITV 1 do not realise that they can get ITV 4 !!!!

ITV have chosen Liverpool and Newcastle (that's right Newcastle) for the second leg matches in the Europa League Round of 32.

Metalist Kharkiv v Newcastle
Liverpool v Zenit St Petersburg

Subject to the results of the first legs.

I've already posted this in the football commentators thread, but thought I'd better post it here too:

Live Europa League Round of 32 2nd Leg's confirmed:

ITV 4 - Lyon v Tottenham (6pm)
ITV - Liverpool v Zenit (8:05pm)

ESPN - Metalist Kharkiv v Newcastle (6pm)
ESPN - Chelsea v Sparta Prague (8:05pm)

It will therefore be interesting to see how ITV present this. Will Matt Smith present both matches again? If so, how will they cope with the switch to ITV as the Spurs game will still be going on at 7:45pm when the ITV coverage begins, with the ITV 4 coverage not finishing until 8pm?

Unless both presenters are used, I suppose the commentary team could wrap up after full time on ITV4... Alert viewers to tune into ITV1.

There was highlights on ITV4 at 5.55pm tonight.
...and ITV4+1 at 6.55pm, but you've missed half of that by now.

What will ESPN do with the Chelsea Prague match if Newcastle stays at 0-0 and goes to Extra Time and even pens ????

This is why we need BT or Sky to get the Pay TV Europa Lge rights cause they have more or will have more than 1 HD channel for coverage of multiple matches.

HD red button is coming in mid march too!!!

They could use ESPN Classic. When on rare occasions that there have been two simultaneously live sports events schedualled on ESPN they have used ESPN Classic for one of the events although not in HD. They could do that for one of the two matches although for one of them it won't be in HD.

Indeed, and I'm pretty sure they can't move it Classic anyway because that channel is entirely automated so there probably wouldn't be the ability to break into it at the last minute for an overrunning match. When this has come up in previous seasons ariusuk has suggested that they just stick with it and join the second match when it's finished.

It did happen before but the delayed match did not feature a British side

So Newcastle, Chelsea and Spurs through, but Liverpool out. Here are the English teams last 16 1st leg fixtures (KO times to be announced):

Steaua Bucharest v Chelsea
Anzhi v Newcastle
Tottenham v Inter Milan

Someone paying £10pm for ESPN would be pretty miffed if they moved coverage to an ESPN channel they didn't even get.

I thought you got Classic if you subscribed to ESPN?

I only get Sky through the monthly ticket option via Sky Go, so I get Classic whatever package I pick

I think it's a given that Chelsea and Newcastle will kick off at 6pm and be on ITV and ESPN respectively. Spurs will be 8.05pm, ITV.

Anzhi v Newcastle will obviously kick off at 5pm GMT.

Due to time difference I'd imagine Anzhi vs Newcastle will by the early kick off. Tottenham vs Inter Milan will be the ITV1 game, Chelsea vs Steaua Bucharest will be on ITV4 I think.
