Can't see it running over 10 being an issue, that's just the time the polls close, and the start of hours of pointless speculation, it doesn't get interesting until midnight when the results start coming in.

10 is a significant moment as the broadcasters get to release their exit poll results, which gives a major indication of the flavour of the night. I'm sure ITV would want to plan to cut away fairly promptly after the match, if the match did happen to end up running past 10pm, as you say, I'm sure they could cope being a minute or two late to the election programme.

If push came to shove, I'm sure they'd scroll the exit poll along the bottom of the screen for the benefit of anyone who happened to tune in at exactly 10pm expecting to see it.

Those that are that into politics that they can't wait for an exit poll probably won't be bothering with the football but glued to a news channel instead.

Big game that night will make a welcome relief from the excessive amount of politics on TV we'll have all endured by 7th May.

ITV got lucky with the drawing of lots for the TV election debates.

ITV got 2 April.

If they had got 16 April it would have clashed with Europa League, forcing their 8.05pm Europa League game onto ITV4.

NB. I realise the TV debates may not happen anyway.

I think if the debate had clashed with the Europa League I think the 6pm game would have been on ITV if a British team was playing at that time.

Think you're onto something there.
Or ITV.com for post game coverage

I can confidently predict that ITV will pick Everton in both legs of the Last 16
Draw is at noon today

No seeding
5 Series A clubs
2 from Spain Russia and Ukraine

Ajax Club Brugge Besiktas and Wolfsburg

Just the 3 Champions League Group rejects left

Everton would need a favourable draw to go much further so I can't see the election stuff being a major issue

Does being on ITV or ITV 4 make any difference theses days as everyone with a TV has now got them both?
Hopefully BT Sport will get it as I'm getting fed up of having to listen to Radio 5 while watching ITV pictures.

Well in theory there are still a few with only freeview lite, who don't get ITV4. Also don't forget for others with say sky (but no sky HD subscription) having it on ITV(1) means they can watch in HD.

On your point of BT Sport, clearly if it (being Everton?) were on there it would mean loads of people can't watch it who otherwise could, if it were on ITV(1) or ITV4. Last night was a pretty terrible outcome for BT Sport as now they almost certainly have no more British teams in the Europa League on their channels this season. Next season though it'll all be on BT Sport.

As an Everton fan im happy.

If Tottenham werent playing Chelsea, and Liverpool not playing Man City, we might have had more teams through.

Guess it shows it is best to top the group.

Nice to see only 3 teams who have dropped down are still in, sx they shouldnt really be in the comp anyway.

On Talksport yesterday, when they were discussing, which team would be the laat English team left in Darren Gough sniggered when his co host said Everton

Draw will be interesting imagine you would prefer to avoid all Spanish and Italian teams, going to Russia and Ukraine not great, would imagine Bruges would be the best all round draw for you

Ukraine never seems to be early kick offs like russia, although Russia is 3 hours ahead, would imagine second leg would be 1805 as that would be 2005 in Kiev.

Could have been a worse draw I suppose as Russian, Ukrainian sides are usually poor travellers 12th/19th games are
