Ahh like what?

Surely if it is just pre-recorded stuff like soaps or whatnot, they can just be shown a day later or something like that??

Because they don't want to disrupt the news. If they won't do it for Liverpool than they certainly won't for Everton.

Bruges have the best defensive record in the Europa League.

Because of the news.

...because they contractually have to show a British team if one is playing.

At least ee were in the Europa League from the beginning and have took it seriousky, up the Toffees.

ITV wont have this problem anymore, cause of loosing the contract.

But during the Last few years, from Knockout Stage, surely they could have had a schedule like this, here goes in typical stv viewer style.

5pm news
5.45pm Europa League Football
8pm Emmerdale

They could have done a preview show on ITV4 from 5:30.

They could actually air the news till 5.55 then show the footy

But they had two games with British teams to show this week now they only have one so they might show both legs on itv as the non british team game will be itv 4

Certain to take the all Italian game but not at all sure what their other pick would be, am I right in saying that they only have 2 picks this round?

Have to say I fully agree they won't... but they should.

The point around they didn't for Liverpool could be trumped by it being a later round and therefore more significant.

ITV have also historically never been great respecters of when the news is shown (e.g. the "News at When?" tag line).

In my opinion no reason for ITV not to show it on the main channel - surely they'd get good viewing figures, a good demographic for advertisers and they could do an early news ending at 5.45pm still getting the soaps in from 8pm. Seems like a no-brainer.

No, BT basically have rights to what ITV don't show. So they will their two games in each timeslot i'm sure.

For the 6pm's - ITV surely will take Wolfsburg v Inter you'd think - BT might even show all three others with one being a 5pm one. For the 8.05pm with ITV taking Everton the two BT picks are probably the all Italian and all Spanish. Again you never know BT might utilise the red button too now.

They have to show the news in primetime, so after 6pm.

Does the 15 minutes before kick off on air rule apply still?

An extra place in UEFA Europa League for the Premier League 6th side as a result of the League Cup Final

Assuming Chelsea qualify for the Champions League in Top 4 !!!

Also 2 of the 3 English teams go straight into the Group Stages in September

New rules for qualifying start in 2015

My reading of itv's statement of programming policy is that it's a little unclear on exemptions to the norm in primetime, specifically being able to move the late news later if required. However, I'm pretty sure they could get away with an early news to accomodate live sport at six without being penalised.

I am pretty sure a Man Utd CL game was on at teatime on ITV, albeit quite a while back. If a game is deemed big enough they would move the goalposts, as it were.

Confirmed:

12/03 18:00 ITV4 Wolfsburg v Milan
12/03 20:05 ITV Everton v Dynamo Kyiv

It's happened loads of times, including on numerous occasions during the World Cup. If the will was there they could do it, and they might have done if it was Liverpool or Spurs, but the facts are that a) Everton aren't a massive draw as the ratings in the last round proved (I know they were partly opposite Liverpool, but even after that it wasn't that amazing) and b) they need some half decent stuff on ITV4 as well. It probably won't rate much worse on ITV4 than on ITV1 and that way they can have both channels getting decent ratings.

They've already got live football on ITV1 that week. And the bit about ITV4 not being available on Freeview Lite transmitters affects virtually nobody. If people desperately want to see the things on ITV4, they'll get it via another platform. If they haven't done that, they're obviously not that bothered about it. Also it's in HD on Virgin, before anyone brings that up.

As for the news, they already have the news in primetime, at ten o'clock.

I live in a freeview lite area and can't get ITV 4 but if there is a match on it I want to watch I will watch it on ITV.com

The last Everton game didn't rate well as the game was already over due to Everton's huge lead after the 1st leg

I think the second leg of the Everton game will be on ITV if the 1st legs ends 1-1 or 1-0 to either team. as long as both teams still have a chance of winning

Sorry to be a pedant but it's Inter, not "Milan" which generally is used to refer to AC Milan.
