Seems to be one of these discontinued products. Used to be sold by Spinnaker of Denmark and available in Waitrose. Abba of Sweden is another brand. Can't get it anywhere these days and been shuffling around the internet without result, tried mysupermarket.co.uk for example.

It's the stuff sold in jars btw.

Course you can make it yourself, but still, sometimes it's convenient to just pick it up.

Anyone know where I can get some?

Lidl do a range of them, in plastic tubs. One in a creamy dill sauce, one in a creamy mustard sauce and a creamy plain sauce. They are as good as, if not better than them from Waitrose. Big chunks of fish and loads of sauce. Brilliant with Jacket Spuds

Herrings in Sour Cream
There is a good reason that they have been discontinued

when I read the thread title I thought it meant herrings were a wierd ingredient used in sour cream as my boyf (works as cook in a care home) said the ketchup they get has fish and lupin (!) in the ingredients.

Ah you're making my mouth water!! I am from Sweden, very near the home of Abba in fact, and so I'm always trying to hunt out the good stuff

My local Budgens stock two or three varieties of a brand which I can't remember the name of now - glass jars with the Swedish flag on and I think a sort of nautical picture. I will check next time I'm there - they definitely have the pickled version and the mustard version

IKEA stock the "real" Abba-stuff as well.

Here's the Abba range (Swedish site). Mouthwatering indeed.

@elke21, thx, I'll try Lidl, it's on the other side of town for me, but it'll be worth a trip.

@annzah, thx to you as well, there's a Budgens just down the road but I never go there for some reason.

Two supermarkets there I just overlooked. I like to shop around, but generally just 'the Big Four'. D'oh.

No problem! I don't do my proper shopping at Budgens, but this one is fairly newly opened and actually very nice and fresh so I don't mind it for small things and basics during the week

Try the German Deli, they have an excellent range and their prices are reasonable.
