Unlocking a Sharp GX 20

Im going to buy a sharp gx 20 but i want to keep my o2 pay as you go sim card. I know Vodafone are the exclusive network to this phone. So can i unblock the phone to use it on o2? Has anyone done this? If it works then what are the implications? Do some features not work properly? And how much would it cost to unblock the phone?

Hi I'm in the same boat. I got a motorola v300, locked to t-mobile. Got it unlocked to use my 02 PAYG sim card, it cost £10.99, but can't access wap, gprs, so can't send mms, photos, and can't download anything! Can only use it to talk and to txt. BORING!!!:yawn:

Try sending the settings to your phone from the o2 site. I sent the settings for a Sony erricson to a Samsung E70 and they work just fine.

Hi. My friend did this with her GX20. When you buy it, call vodafone and in their menu there is the option to unlock your phone. You will get put through to customer services and it will cost about £20. It will take a few days for the code to get sent to your phone to unlock it. Once you have recieved and entered the code you will be able to use your O2 sim card, then you will just need to download the wap/gprs/mms settings to your phone from the 02 site.

Have tried to get settings sent to my phone by txt from 02 site, but haven't had any sent. They don't list the v300, but worked my waty thru the list of others, I haven't received a single txt from them! Have bn told that because t-mobile settings have been flashed into fone, I may not be able to totally unlock it? Hope that's wrong cos it's a really nice looking fone.
