http://www.seafood-express.co.uk/

I just ordered 30 cod fish fingers from Tesco for £4.50, can get 60 here for the same price. I got through a whole pack of cod fillets yesterday - could of done with a couple more in the bag to be honest.

Anyone buy frozen fish online, are the supermarkets a rip off?

This one looks good, delivery charges low as well - my Mum wants some herring fillets.

I've had meat from Donald Russell, very nice, so would imagine the fish is good quality too.

Definitely worth paying that bit extra for though, isn't it?

Without a doubt! Finest steaks i've ever had. Great customer service as well.
Not sure, but the OP was talking about buying 30 or 60 fish fingers for £4.50 so I don't think over £4 for one fishcake from Donald Russell is going to appeal somehow.

No, probably not!

I agree about the steaks too - fantastic flavour. I love their lamb as well.

That's nice, nothing wrong with some fish fingers.

Anyway I'm glad to see Donald is well regarded as I ordered my Mum's Herring fillets from him, £20 so I hope they are nice.

Nothing wrong at all, in fact occasionally there's nowt better than a fish finger butty made with thick white bread and loads of butter!

Old Donald is good with a knife isn't he, these fillets are so thin I can almost see through them.

Still my Mum is happy. As for me I have a Tesco Kipper, and very nice it is too.

I bought meat from Donald Russell and it was without question the biggest waste of money ever. Each and every type of meat was almost completely tasteless, lamb, beef, game the lot. Racks of lamb I had bought to serve to guests I had to replace with others from our local farm shop after I'd done a trial run of the menu.

So you do trial runs of menus with expensive cuts of meat? Just for guests? You buy loads of meat from an expensive butcher without sampling a small order first? Everything was completely tasteless? Really?
Sorry, I find it hard to believe you bought lamb, beef and game and it was all tasteless.

Then you must have been very disappointed, so surely you would have contacted Donald Russell and got a refund or replacement? That's what he offers.

(Or maybe that's precisely why you said it was all tasteless?)

I have never, ever had tasteless meat from DR, it's all been superb.

So would I! Perhaps he will enlighten us? Though he did say he replaced the DR meat with meat from his local farm shop, so maybe that's his secret?

I suppose next, he'll be telling us that meat from Lidl and Aldi is better than DR.......

In answer to this and other points raised:-

She buys her meat from a local farm shop where they graze their own animals on their own farm and other local grazing sites.

The reason I bought the amount and variety of meat I did was that the company had been recommended to me by a friend and on that basis I thought that it would be OK so I went ahead with an order for a range of different meats.

Yes I did try the dinner party recipe first, specifically because it was going to be using the Donald Russell lamb and we'd already been disappointed by other parts of the order that we'd already tried.

By the time we could bring ourselves to eat the rest of the meat it was over 6 months old, I certainly didn't want it replaced and no longer had any of the paperwork for a refund so I just put it down to experience and never bought from them again.

Oh and I don't feel qualified to comment on the quality of fresh meat at Lidl or Aldi as I have never bought any though I do like some of the continental salamis and salads.

I've used this to send fish lovers presents:

The recipients seemed to be very pleased and they have a great reputation.

If you like salamis and sausages try the German Deli, check out their range of tinned soups & stews they are amazing and packed with veg and meat!
