Not sure if I am in the correct section.

I am trying to setup my Sky tv handset to adjust the sound on my new Samsung 32" tv.

I have tried the Sky recommended code 0060, but the handset does not recognise the code.

Do I point the handset at the Sky + box or the tv during setup, probably silly question.

Any other codes I should try?

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards John.

Have a look at the tv set up codes on Sky Active. Press red on any Sky channel and go into Help and assistance and go into setting up my remote.

Hope this helps

It may be that your Sky handset doesn't have the code, or that you've missed a key press in the programming sequence.

First thing to do is to check your button sequence. It's surprisingly easy to miss a step.

After that then use the auto-code-finder. Manufacturers tend to stick to certain code sets. You need the 4-digit code for your TV. Samsung is 0060.
To program using the 4 digit code
1) Switch on the TV set
2) Press the TV button on the Sky Remote
3) Hold down the select and red buttons for 2-3 seconds until the LED blinks twice
4) Press the TV button on the Sky Remote again
5) Enter the 4 digit code for your make of TV
6) The LED should blink twice, if not recheck the 4 digit code used and go back to 1
7) Press the standby button on the Sky Remote (The TV should go to standby)
8) Press select to store this setting
If the TV does not go into standby press the TV button then the standby button, then TV then standby, keep repeating this until successful. This will scan the codes used for a particular make of TV.
Remember!!!

the remote can only scan the codes it has in its own memory
later revisions of the Sky remote are programmed with newer codes*
if your TV is much newer than the Sky remote then the codes might not be programmed - so the remote might not control your TV!!
you might need to buy the latest model of Sky remote

*There's only so much space for codes in the handset's chip. Each revision handset is programmed with the most popular codes of the time. Look inside the battery compartment or lid to see which rev number you have.

Thanks Chris, stupid question, do you face the handset to the tv or the receiver when programming?

Regards John.

It doesn't matter. When you are programming the code into the handset it doesn't matter where you do it. You could wander down the bottom of the garden or sit on the dark side of the moon for all the difference it would make

Programming a code only involves the handset it does not ever involve either TV or Sky box. You only need to be in front of the telly to test the code works.

When testing you obviously have to point the remote at the TV's sensor.
