Sometimes A 2nd Or 3rd Choice Actor Lands A Role And They End Up Doing It So Well You Cant Imagine Anyone Else Playing That Role. Or That They Were`nt The 1st Choice To Begin With! As Far As Im Concerned There`s Only One Danny Zuko, Thank God Henry Winkler Turned It Down!!! And Thank God Tom Selleck Couldnt Do Raiders Of The Lost Ark!

Wow. Too Many Caps!

Paul Bettany was offered Colin Firth's role in The Kings Speech. Thankfully, he turned it down. He regrets not taking it, naturally, it only went on to win Colin an Oscar, but I don't think Paul could have been as good in the role personally and I doubt he would have won an Oscar for it.

Don't type in caps then. Your post is virtually unreadable, so laters.

No, Connery should have been Denethor. The film characterisation of Denethor is the worst disservice done to any of the characters.

I believe the role of Rick Blaine in Casablanca was offered to Ronald Reagan (amongst others) before going to dear old Bogey.

I think we all dodged a bullet there.

Wasn't Al Pacino offered the Han Solo role in Star Wars? Or did I confuse him with someone else?

That's correct. Apparently he didn't understand the script so he turned it down.

As Harrison Ford so memorably informed George Lucas about Star Wars' dialogue 'George, you can type this sh1t but you just can't speak it!'.

LOL, the dialogue sure was stilted in all the Star Wars films. I'll go a little OT (and I know I'm in the minority on this), there was never a huge difference between the dialogue in the first 3 movies and the prequels that so many Star Wars purists mock.

I agree, when that boulder came rolling down, Tom could have just jumped in his red Ferrari and escaped it easily!
