I got my Foxsat HDR a couple of weeks ago, and when the first programme I tried to record failed, I was experimenting with recording. I somehow managed to set up series record for Zoo Diaries which was transmitting on ITV3+1 (I think) in half-hour episodes back-to-back.

I killed this, and deleted the recordings. However, for some reason it created a folder named Zoo Diaries where it stored the recordings (I don't know why it did this, as my other recordings haven't gone into folders).

Now I have an empty folder which I don't want, and whatever I try, I can't seem to delete it.

How do I do this?

From the Media Manager, press the Opt+ key, and choose the 'File manager'.

In the File Manager, you can press the red button to delete a folder (or file), or press the yellow button to enter edit mode and select multiple files for deletion.

Unfortunately, you'll have to do this for every series recording you set up, as Humax have delayed addressing annoying quirks like this in favour of implementing new features that no-one knows about, and seemingly fewer care about having

If this is the only thing on your hard drive, you may not be able to delete it. There is a quirk, where the Media list seems to want to have something in there, even if an empty folder.

Wait until you have another recorded programme in the Media list, and then try to delete your empty folder.

I think Les has the answer (there is nothing in my Media list atm). I tried what Scarlet suggested, and did all the obvious things, but it kept coming back when I exited File Manager.

Another somewhat related query - why are there two panels in File Manager when no external device is plugged in, and why does HDA1 (showing my empty folder) appear on both sides? I could "delete" the folder in each panel and they disappeared separately. (But like I said, the folder was still there when I exited.)

The 2 panels are there so that if you want to move files to different folders you can select the destination location

Here's a little workround for those that like to keep a tidy ship, and get down to that last undeletable file/folder.

Make a 1min instant record of anything non-HD (to keep it ultra small).

Create a Folder called aa_DO_NOT_DELETE, move the 1min file into it. You can now delete ANY & ALL other files/folders.

aa keeps it at the top of your Media List, if you want it at the end of the list just substitute zz_.

Ah, yes, good point, I'd forgotten about numbers !! Probably "Full Stop" or "Exclamation Mark" etc., precedes numbers, and there is no underscore, so it will have to be Spaces in between.

But, the basic idea works anyway (to enable deletions etc.), the other stuff is just cosmetic ordering.
