Not offered HD
I was setting up to record Coast this afternoon, and on the Guide, I mistakenly clicked Record on the programme on BBC2. I was not offered the HD alternative.
I cancelled that, then went down to BBC HD, clicked Record on Coast, and this time was offered the choice between HD and SD! Is that normal behaviour, or a bug? Sounds back to front to me. |

It relies on the broadcaster coding up the BBC2 instance with the Alternate HD Instance. If they didn't do it, then you won't be offered it.

If its anything like the Cornish episode the other week you wouldn't have missed much in SD anyway. Coast is one of the programmes that really should excel with HD given its landscape based format but the Cornish episode (apart from annoyingly missing out some important towns - another issue) suffered from flat lifeless colours and and intermittent periods of SD blur or maybe that should be the other way around with HD sharpness as unfortunately most of the episode was very unsharp and un detailed for HD.

And not just that episode either - the following one on North Wales and Lancashire was just as bad. This was shown up by the pin sharp resolution of Who Do You Think You Are on HD.
