According to: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/strictly...saturdays.html

Quote:
“Strictly Come Dancing producers have decided to axe the show's Sunday night results episode, it has been announced.

The scheduling shakeup, which was first tipped last December as part of a major revamp, will see the ballroom competition's performances and weekly elimination featuring in a single show on Saturdays, likely to last for 90 minutes.”

Both shows will be merged into one show by the sounds of things.

Wahey! I cant imagine them merging them in to one show though, by my reckoning it would have to be nearly two hours which is a bit of a tall order.

good news but maybe two shows on the saturday would be better

Which is fine but if they're doing one long show (not two) I hope we still get the pro performances and have plenty of time to vote. I know people who use landlines had problems getting through at times - that'll be worse if the amount of voting time is reduced.

I am GUTTED!!!

I loved the Sunday shows, and more than anything this is What I did NOT want to happen
There will be hardly any time left for the pro dances, and we'll miss out on all the excitement of waiting for the results to come on the spoiler thread.

I think poeple shuld be careful what they wigh for on these forums....it appears they do take some notice of whats getting said after all. First Arlene gone and now this...

Don't be disheartened I think there will be plenty of time after the celebrity dances for some good pro routines and guest performances whilst they count the votes.

I vastly prefer the Saturday shows, BUT it sounds like they're making it a bit... short. 90 minutes is only okay towards the end of the competition.

I presume we will see some pro dances this year, as you said while people have time to vote, but it still won't be nearly as much as the last two series

Same

The only thing we can hope is that they cut down the amount of time they take for each couple during the main show. For the first three series only 2 judges use to comment per dance so if they went back to that, the show would speed up a bit (They usually just repeat each other anyway).

Suprising perspective! I generally find its much more exciting to wait for the results in real time than on a web forum.

I'm pleased that its going back to Saturday nights, although it will be interesting to see how this single show works. I generally whiz through the show dances if I've sky+ the show so I won't be sad to see that content pared back.

I'm really pleased as I much preferred it when it was all on the one night. Fairly obivous that they're only doing it because the X Factor have adopted the two night policy though! I'm getting mega excited about it coming back now, roll on October....!

If they are having the same amount of dancers which seems to be the case.

The show should start 18/19 September. *fingers corssed*

yay, that's the best strictly news i've heard in a while . it would be better still if they did 2 shows on saturday instead of merging them both into 1 show, but you can't have it all i guess.

BACKTRACK! BACKTRACK!

LMAO!

Oh dear, oh dear. When the move to Sunday was announced it was wildly unpopular with many saying it ruined the whole atmosphere of Strictly, the live flavour, the build up and tension, the rush to vote etc. but oh no, the producers knew best and it was all ' very exciting' and 'part of our new Sunday night schedule and we are all very excited' and lots of other exclamations of excitement blah blah blah.

It doesn't work, now we're back to the original format again (albet it now all one show?).

When will they learn to stop fiddling with a winning format? It wasn't broken then and didn't need fixing, and it's not broken now. Let's take bets on how long before they backtrack on Alesha!

Sorry, but that's just rubbish. It obviously did work because the Sunday night result show got higher ratings than the Saturday one did.

Who knows why they've decided to change it back. Maybe they've decided with X Factor results and Top Gear on Sunday evenings, it makes no sense to put SCD on then. Maybe they've got other shows planned for Sunday evenings this winter and it's just more awkward to fit it in.

The Saturday night schedule will be interesting - presumably they've got to fit in Merlin, SCD, Lottery, Casualty, News - that's a lot to get in between 6 and 10!

Sort of agree, grew very fond of the spoiler thread last year, with associated panda/puppy watching

I'd be very suprised if there is only going to be one show on the Saturday night. However this was how it worked during the first series. There was only one show and you got about 3 minutes to vote before the result was announced.

Well I'm gob smacked - I never saw that coming!

Happy with an all in one Saturday show, but how do we cope with only having SCD 6 days out of 7? Or will they change ITT as well?

I hope they drop the guest slot, but keep the pro dances.

I too will miss the excitement of waiting for the spoiler.

Mind you there is supposed to be a change in the voting, so there could be more surprises yet.

90 minutes really doesn't sound very long at all, but I'll wait and see how it all pans out.

Thank God its back to results on Saturday!!
It shows that the beeb maybe do listen to the viewers after all!
Now if they could just do something about that old guy who presents it!! If he stopped telling his corny jokes  there would be loads of time for more pro dances

They had outnumbered last year aswell, usually before Casualty (I think) so i'm not sure if that's coming back, but if not they've made an extra 30 minutes just from that.

Wasnt there a lot less couples to get through in the earlier series though?

There better not be any changes !

Unless they make it an hour a night or something like that...I can live with that

Thinking about it, perhaps this is another ruse to get viewers off of X Factor. After all, if people watch both, aren't they more likely to watch live the all-in-one show where the results are announced and record the one they can watch at any time before the Sunday reveal....

Yeah, half the number we have now

...and we hardly saw any of the pros in series 1
