***MADONNA - Vogue - almost 20 years old***
In the spring of 1990, Madonna kicked off the decade in a fashionable way with the club anthem "Vogue," which was one of her signature and most recognizable hits. Shep Pettibone's production was perfet in every way possible. It's armed with one of the most memorable basslines I've heard in any dance single. As a tribute to trendsetting Hollywood legends, the single did cause some controversy among groups who pointed out that it ignored the Black actresses whose style and glamour inspired the "voguing" that's now known as a dance. It's a valid point, but there's still no denying the rush of energy that this single delivers. Even after all these years, "Vogue" still remains in vogue today.
I think it's a song that will never sound dated. It's an absolute classic and much better than anything that's released today. LOVE IT! So what's your favorite performance?
I don't think she could ever top the one from B.A. **** ...and I can't believe I've forgotten about the MTV awards?

One of my favourites and one of her best. It's epic in every way!
She don't make them like that anymore.

Her last good album was Ray of Light, thats over 10 years now I think. She's definitely lost her touch, although I'd be willing to give her another chance if she produces another album as good as all hers pre Music.
But she will never have another Ray Of Light. Which is a shame but some of her best work is on the American Life album and it never gets the credit that it should. |

I just thought it was a copy of her early stuff which is no bad thing but nothing original.

Oh I liked how every single song on there contained at least one sample. I think it was very creative. That and the fact it had no breaks inbetween songs.
"Confessions" was basically her going back to her roots and I consider it her greatest since ROL. "Isaac" is a bit strange though. |

Yeah Isaac ruined that album for me.
Her best Tracks for me since Ray of Light would have to be Hollywood and Celebration. I reckon that since Ray of Light she's had enough tracks for probably 2 amazing albums but sadly she's released them across 4 albums instead and it's allowed some great tracks to get lost amongst crap. I like the description of Vogue as Epic. That is the most perfect description of the track. (This will probably be disagreed with) I like quite long tracks that have a lot of parts to them, like Vogue does and tracks like Girls Aloud Biology and Black Eyed Peas current I Gotta Feeling remind me of it in the way they have some sort of distinct parts all meshed into one amazing track. Only a couple of new tracks this year, hopefully gives her a chance to create an amazing album to follow it up. Fingers crossed, I still think she's totally got it, her tours still looks phenomenal. |
