My Vbox has become 'eco friendly'. I have noticed very recently that when I put the box into standby mode, the fan and the hard drive power down completely - total silence! Previously for the past 2 years since I installed it, the fan/hardrive continued to spin in standby.
Have BT modified the boxes recently?
I also notice that every episode of the 'series record' programs are now grouped together instead of being listed seperately. When for example 'Corrie' is recorded just the program title is shown with the number of episodes recorded shown in numbers against the title.
Finally, an Automatic Freeview Channel Update option is now included in the TV setting menu, I can't recollect seeing this before?
I was wondering if anyone else has noticed these changes.

Yes, have received the update too. Shame there doesn't appear to be anything more exciting than the tweaks you mentioned.

Just realised that I have a series recording set for The One Show (long story!) I always miss the beginning. Tonight now I have the up date, although the schedule still says 1900 - 19.30, it actually started recording at 18.58. Is this a sign of some kind of PDC or perhaps hidden times behind the schedule for programs that never start at the correct time?

Yes, definitely seems to be starting recordings at least 2 mins early with no intervention. Has done it with LocationLocationLocation.

I have just tried the tv guide and it is now super fast now.

With reference to my first post, I have noticed too, that when the box comes out of standby the aspect ratio always defaults to 'normal' mode.
I then adjust it to 'stretch' mode.

BT tell me that my box is ready to receive the new Freeview HD transmissions when they start??

Not sure if this update is being fully rolled out or a lucky few are initially being chosen. Will find out soon enough I suppose

According to the BT Vision forums, final internal testing is going on with an update higher than version .825. Some users have had the .825 update apparently, but I believe a few issues surfaced with that one.

This isn't PDC; it's padding where 2 minutes have been added to the start times whilst recordings finish 5 minutes later. For a while now users have had the 5 minutes at the end of programmes, but the new software release will add the 2 minutes making all recordings 7 minutes longer.

I had the .825 firmware for several weeks which has just been upgraded to .835. Whilst I was running the .825 the red button never failed. The pre-cached EPG is also superfast so its a resounding Yes on both counts

Super!

I'm still on old software, it probably needs rebooting. people are using the box so I can't do it *yet*.

The guide is quite nice just laggy. nice to see it faster now.

Red button has always worked fine in terms of speed etc etc. just something would knock it offline and a channel re-scan usually fixed it for me. glad to see they've cured that.

I mean well done to BT. it's not a bad box. although im not fussed about padding (don't really record much), i'm sure lots of people see it as a blessing! so really there ain't much wrong with it apart from the HDMI issues.

Thats a point they say it's been improoved. can anyone say if it has? it works with my TV fine but it syncs the HDCP protocol twice which is why we get no sound. (I get sound when it first syncs once).

All we need now is some more HD download content and a few live streaming SD channels and i'm pretty sure BT can put itself amongst the bigger boys then.

Versions are .830 for non ESPN, and .835 for those with a card.

If all goes to plan everyone should have it early next week. Keep an eye on the BT Beta Forum for further details as they become updated.....

According to BT Support, they're rolling it out at the moment, and everyone should get it this week.
