...I've got a 42" Toshiba that has WXGA (1366x768) max screen res...

With my little WD HD TV media player (via HDMI) I get a very good picture playing VOB and ISO's from my USB HDD.

I am now looking for a new PC with a graphics HDMI out and want to link it to my TV.

1). What is the (best) resolution to set the PC graphics card if I want to watch YouTube and BBC iPlayer at full screen (no black bars) at the best posible quality possible with this TV.....

2). Would a 1080p TV give any better quality ?

Doesn't matter about P, but a 1080 screen will give you greater resolution from a PC than a 768 one - so is worthwhile for that.

1. The maximum the screen & graphics card will accept - you can then set icon & text size independantly, if required.
2. Yes, especially if you outfit the PC with a blu-ray drive and a satellite HD PCI card.

A lot depends on your viewing distance, how far are your eyes from the screen? You need to be sitting 7' or closer.
