LCD burn?
I have noticed on my 5 year old samsung lcd tv that when i am on my pc, through the tv, and the background is mainly white i can see 6 light brownish rectangles prob each one about 2cm by 3cm on screen in a pattern. I also notice them when i am watching sky and i change the channel and you have the blue background, i can see the bars. So far i havent seen when watching any tv programmes yet, just as well i dont watch ice hockey.
Here is the pattern, N = a downward rectangle - N N N N N N Because it is a pretty pattern i am wondering what could have caused this? My friend at work says it is down to my pc sending some sort of electric pulse to the tv when it powers up, is this plausible? He also dosen't know of a cure for it. He has the same problem. And last night i switched on my tv in my bedroom, an old 21" chunky tv, and 20 mins into the scotland game i hear a buzz and then my tv started smoking black smoke from the back, is the tv god trying to tell me something I was waiting for freeview to get hd and buy a tv with the new hd built in, i will see if it gets any worse b4 then.

You can't get 'burn' on an LCD, they don't work that way, more likely it's something inside the screen, either dirt, or the supports for the tubes (or dirt on the supports, making them visible).

Yeah, i didnt think that lcd tv's could get any burn, do you know if it is fixable?, if it is then i will put off buying a new big tv till next year and i will make some calls to see how much the repair will cost.

Does the pattern look like the outline of a image that you may have on the screen for a long period of time.LCD'S Dont have image burn as such but can have image persistence.

Nah i dont think it can be from an image, from the centre of the screen to the left and the right i have brownish downward rectangles that are exactly the same on the left and the right, in size and postion, i thought that there might have been a prob with the connections or something, because of the pattern but nigel is prob right, i dont know.
I have tried the connections and un powering the mains plug from the socket but to no joy. |
