I looking for a few opinions on my next TV choice.

I currently have a 37" Panasonic Viera LCD TV. I got it about 2 years ago, and I have been impressed with the picture ever since. I use it for my Virgin SD and HD TV, well she does anyway, Plus HD films via Virgin, I also own a PS3 and a XBOX 360 which I regularly game on, stream HD Films from my PC or watch Blu Ray.

I want to upgrade the TV to a 42" TV but

A/ Not sure whether to invest in a LCD again or go Plasma.
B/ There are now TVs with 600hz and god knows what is that needed and how does it reflect on my gaming?

I've been scouting around and found

http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/pro.../specification

Which is around the price mark that I can go up to, There are cheaper HDTV's avaiable at that size from Panasonic, but does the 240hz, 400hz, 600hz make that £100 difference? and as I've owned Panasonic TV's for years now, even before HDTV's I'm somewhat afraid to go to another brand due to habit but if there is better for cheaper than please by all means suggest it.

im a plasma man myself, have a panasonic and very happy.has a much more natural picture for me and since ive calibrated it myself it looks even better on sd and hd.

the g15 you link to is the same as the g10 but has an extra hdmi and a couple other bits like divx playbacj from a sd card but if these arent important to you then look at the g10 as it will be the same picture but 100 quid cheaper or more.

i wouldnt worry about 200,300 600 hz whatever its all a marketing gimmick

one thing what is your viewing distance going to be?if its too far away then a 1080p may show you no benefit over a 720p set meaning you could save a few quid more.

from that distance its touch and go if you would notice 1080p on 42 inch.is your 37 inch a full hd tv?if it is can you notice the difference bewtween 720p and 1080p with bluray?
i would look at the 42x10 which is a 720p set or the 42g10 which is a 1080p set.both will be very good with the x10 probably looking better with sd pics but at 10 feet it may be hard to notice the difference between em with a bluray thus saving a few quid or you could even go for 50g10 which would be the same money as that g15 you linked to but being a bigger screen 1080p would work better at that distance.

I'm dubious about these higher frame rates anyway, but AFAIK the highest is the Sony Z series at 200/240Hz? - any higher figures (like the Panasonic) are referring to something completely different, unrelated to the number of pictures per second - it's just a marketing ploy.Go and look at sets, and see which YOU like - don't get bogged down in deliberately misleading marketing specifications.

If you've always liked Panasonic then go for Panasonic again - maintain some brand loyalty.
