BBC iPlayer, no download option

Whats happened to the download option for the Kim Cattrall, Who do you think you are? Since it clashes with Dragons Den, I have been downloading Who do you think you are every week so I can watch it later but this weeks episode hasn't got a download option, why?

Not sure why the SD version hasn't.

But the BBCHD one has.

Quite a few programs from Thursday have had no download options on BBC iPlayer since they were
put up on the website, and there's been no change 3 days on. The BBC iPlayer folks are aware of
the problem, but they don't seem to be doing anything whatsoever to remedy the situation.

For some people (myself included) the streaming option isn't really an option for different reasons.
If the programs are still not available before next Thursday, the only other realistic choice would
be to look elsewhere ... in other words, piracy is going to be the only option. I'm sure most of
us that prefer to download programs from BBC iPlayer would rather not go down that road!

Especially as anything posted on Youtube and their ilk will be of lower quality than iPlayer.

...Except for waiting for a repeat. Or just not watching it.

True. I could wait for a re-run, but I don't know if/when a particular show is going to be repeated.

One program from last Thursday I wanted to download from iPlayer, was New Tricks, mainly for
my dad's benefit, as he enjoys that program more than I do. He's 73 years of age, and as you
might expect, he's not exactly up with latest technology.

I'm not really bothered about missing that show, but dad always has an evening out every Thurs,
(which he is entitled to) but it means he's had to miss the first run of episodes from the current
series. So I've offered to download each weeks episode from BBC iPlayer, so it can be viewed
on the main TV downstairs via the XBox. He obviously doesn't know how it all works, but as
long as it just works, and he gets one of his favourite TV shows a little later, he's happy.

Unfortunately, since last Thursday, BBC iPlayer has let us both down. While the streamed version
of the episode has been available to view on the iPlayer website, I'm not going to subject Dad to
watching it on the 14 inch screen of my 6 yr old Dell C610 laptop with its crappy little speakers!

So, my only realistic option is to download it from elsewhere, but treat it much like a download
from the BBC iPlayer website, convert it to Windows Media format, and stream that version to
the XBox, then delete both copies (XviD and WMV) when it's been watched.

I'm well aware it's not legal, but when the legal source lets us down, what choice is there?

Alright then ... I'll just go tell my old Dad that he can't watch one of favourite TV shows, because
of some technical problems that could've been easily avoided, and should've been fixed within
a day or so, but the incompetent numpties at the BBC couldn't be bothered to do so?

Xbox 360 or original Xbox? I use XBMC on a chipped Xbox (1) and installed the iplayer script.

XBox360 ... since that natively supports WMV (complete with DRM) via Windows Media Centre.
