I know it's on iTunes Italy and others already but the UK download release date isn't until 13th September, I thought.

Why is the UK always last to get songs released!? Everywhere seems to have this song except us!!!

They are waiting for the Video UK wise I think and that's September 1st.

Odd though as the remix is rumoured to be used in the video and not the single version so god knows what is going on.

I have high hopes this will be her 14th UK number one!

Strange isn't it?
They did this with "WIFLFAG" too. It just doesn't make sense to me.

I thought maybe they were waiting to see if they could get more radio airplay. I don't think it's being playlisted on Radio One at all.
I'm a huge Madonna fan, but I think this is one of her worst singles ever.
I don't know why she chose to work with Paul Oakenfold, his production style is so uncreative, 90's and dated. There's a good melody in the song somewhere but the production is so horrible. Plus, the lyrics are very boring.
If I'm not excited about it as a fan, I don't see how the general public would be. I doubt it will make it to No. 1.

Oakenfold doesn't do much for me either. Infact, I tend to avoid anything that has his name attached. He's far to overrated imo.

I agree. Maybe I'm not the biggest expert on dance music since I don't go out to clubs much anymore. But his sound sounds like what was big in clubs back in the 90's when I used to go out a lot.
I'm not sure if he's overrated though. I don't think he has that great a reputation or anyone thinks he's brilliant. Most people I've talked to don't think much of his djing at all. To be overrated, you have to be praised by lots of people. Who is praising Paul Oakenfold these days? Not many people from what I can see.

It will be number one. All of her comeback singles hit number 1. Only American Life didn't but it could be said Die Another Day was the comeback and that did. Infact American Life only just missed out on Number one and that hardly no airplay at all. It was shunned completely.

This will be the same. Her UK fan base is the strongest. The GH will be number one for sure too.

This isn't a comeback single. It's not from a new album. So you can't really compare it to those. She hasn't been anywhere to comeback from. She had a huge hit with 4 Minutes and has been on a very successful tour. I love her, but she has been covered so much in the press, I think some people are tired of her.
She's made so many amazing records in the past, but for the most part HC and Celebration are disappointing to me. Understandably, she' been going through a lot with her divorce and adoptions and the negative media coverage of that and I believe the quality of her songs has suffered.
After this current tour, I really hopes she focuses on writing great songs again.

Well by comeback 'first single off a new release' that is already no 1 on many pre order charts.

Celebration has had more decent reviews than anything off Hard Candy did. When the song first hit the net people were raving that it was her best for years and years. Once the video airs she will get all the exposer for the single she needs.

If it doesn't get to number 1, I am happy to eat my words but come 5 weeks it will be at the top of the UK top 40.

You mentioned PR. Once these adverts start airing people won't give a toss who she is dating or what she has done they will just love the music.

I haven't seen many wonderful reviews of Celebration. People only liked it because it's dance, and not R&B like HC which some people dislike. But compared to Madonna's other wonderful dance singles over the years, I think it's pretty weak and I think most would agree.
I don't think one commercial is going to do much for it.

"Madonna’s latest single ‘Celebration’ has reportedly not been added to Radio 1’s playlist.

The track, a collaboration with Paul Oakenfold, is the first of Madonna’s songs to not have made the playlist, reports The Sun.

However, Radio 2 have been playing the single over the past fortnight.

Madonna’s greatest hits album, also entitled Celebration, will be released on September 28."

***********

I think that is terrible.
Seems like once an artist reaches a certain age they're considered "Not cool" anymore.

Radio 1 is crap anyway. Just look at the rubbish Jo Whiley plays.

I heard from someone 'in the know' it is going to be added to R1 playlist next week and we will get it as download when the video airs on Sept 1st. I think it's fantastic and am confident it will go to number 1

Sugababes - Get Sexy is A List now yet for the first two weeks it wasn't on the play list. Some don't seem to understand how Radio 1 works.

Yeah it will be added. Its just no video has come out yet and the demand will be there. There is no way this song will not be top 2 but I'm betting no #1!

I'm also pretty sure Revolver will go to number 1 as well on its release.

To be honest, I for one am not really interested in how R1 works.

I haven't listened to it in years and that's mainly because of the type of horrible music they insist of playing.
The times I have caught it, Jo whiley was banging on about how great this band or that band is. I'm sick to death of hearing her crap. lol

It's not appeared on Spotify as yet.

Any idea when it will make it on there.

Perhaps they are listening because they just played it before the news!

What a stupid decision for it to be released so late here..it's been out ages in europe and is all over youtube so people will be over the song before they can even buy it, madness from Warner

Yeah its already been no 1 in 3 countries too but I blame M. The video was filmed weeks ago yet its another two weeks until we see it apart from that very short clip of it in the advert I posted above. The video should be on the music channels now.

It hasn't been finalised yet. 2 versions are being made, remix and normal.

It's only been rushed out onto certain iTunes because of the leak. Sept 14th was the original release date anyway. The UK label obviously don't see the point of releasing it weeks ahead of the album (and even the video), by which time the single will be falling out of the charts.
