Christina Aguilera, Pink, Mya, Lil Kim - Lady Maramalade
That totally owns the original (mainly because of Christina). Some will disagree but i would say Leona's version of Run is better than Snow Patrol's. (Her vocals are better and i can actually connect with that version) |

Others that spring to mind could possibly be: Hallelujah (Jeff Buclkey's better than Leonard Cohen's original) The Man Who Sold the World (Nirvana's better than Bowie's original) With a Little Help From My Friends (Joe Cocker's better than the Beatles' original) Obviously, all in my opinion. |

Johnny Cash not just Hurt but also Personal Jesus and also his cover of Nick Cave's Mercy Seat, what is impressive of those covers is they were already really good songs.
I also love The Carpenters version of Ticket To Ride |

I agree 100% with this post
I absoloutely love Leona 's version. Although everyone does have different tastes, so I understand that some people will prefer Snow Patrols. |

I guess it's all personal opinion. I thought Leona's version of Run was a travesty of a moderately good Snow Patrol song.
This thread topic comes up fairly regularly on this forum and my usual reply includes: Song To the Siren by This Mortal Coil Wild is the Wind by David Bowie Make Me Smile (Come Up and See Me) by the Wedding Present Where Did You Sleep Last Night by Nirvana (on the Unplugged album) |

![]() I thought i'd be mobbed of this forum for saying that. It takes an open-mind to say that her version is superior since many people say SP is better only because LL was from XF. ![]() Another song many may disagree with is Knockin' On Heaven's Door. I connected with Avril Lavigne's version more than Bob Dylan's. She sounds very emotional on the track which tears me up ![]() You can all tell i judge songs more by the voice rather than the music. |

Venus - Bananarama
Jealous Guy - Roxy Music/Bryan Ferry Unchained Melody - Righteous Brothers I have to disagree with the poster who said that Alien Ant Farm's version of Smooth Criminal was better than the original. I would say its equally as good. Also Mark Ronson's version of Valerie was played far too much on the radio for me so even though I liked it when I first heard it got bored with it after hearing it for the 100th time. It also annoys me how some people treat that song as a Amy Winehouse original and the Zutons have been forgotten about as it was their song. |

Are you serious? Why would Christina Aguilera screeching at the top of her voice be better than the sexy original? Then there's the video; men dressed as women have never appealed to me.
As for the Leona "Run", it's a good cover and can see its appeal but for me lacks something. Christina totally owned everyone else who have performed that track (that i know of, which is a lot of people). The original was hardly sexy. Also, that's a very immature thing to say about the video since it's very clear they are not transvestites. Or was that a 'joke'?
