The problem with an undocumented feature is justifying it to the suits.

If it's undocumented, how will people find out about it? Someone has to leak the info, which sets a precedent suited folk don't like. And if you don't shout about a feature, and so can't use it in marketing, then will it generate enough extra sales to justify the cost of development?

Those blasted bean counters get everywhere these days, you know...

Sky Remote Record operation has absolutely nothing to do with the phone line.
All record requests come in via the satellite downlink.

Try setting a sky box up for remote record without a phoneline and let me know how far you get.

I never mentioned anything about record requests being sent over a phoneline. Merely the need for one regardless.

It's nothing to do with the phone line as I set up remote record long after disconecting the Sky box from my phone line.

From the sky remote record setup page:-

2. Activate Remote Record on your set top box
• Press the Interactive button on your Sky+ remote control and press '1' for Sky Active.
• Choose Sky Products from the menu, then select Remote Record.
• Select Register My Sky Users - this directs you to a page advising that you are about to be connected to a freephone number. Press Select if you are happy to do so.
• Using your Sky remote control, enter your mobile phone number and press Select.

What information needs to get to sky when you setup a remote record? As already stated you do not need a phone line for remote record to work.

Dan.

Just read your post, it's only needed to enable remote record on your account, once that is done you con disconnect it.

I don't see how anyone could be confused with my earlier post

Try setting a sky box up for remote record without a phoneline and let me know how far you get.

I Have got an active phoneline attached and I cannot register for "Remote Record". Just says "Service Temporarily Unavailable" whenever I try.
