Anyone got any tasty and original suggestions for toasted sandwich fillings, beyond the usual cheese/ham etc????

Sorry I just do ham and marmite
I ran out of ham during the week and I deeply contemplated what was left in the cupboards. Peanut butter or chocolate spread. But some how I really couldn't bring myself to try it out. I would really like to find a filling to put in a toasted sandwich that didn't require fresh food such as ham or cheese so that all you've got to do is get the bread out of the freezer and the filling out of the cupboard. I'll keep an eye on this thread for any suggestions. |

Tuna and beans is an old student favourite whilst cheese isn't a bad addition to this.

Fish fingers. I cook up a box of 10 to keep in the fridge for quick snacks. They have to be cod ones, nothing else is good enough.

But, I've recently found that my favourite toastie is cheese, mushroom, tomato and olives - it's so awesome I strongly recommend trying it - like a veggie pizza in a sandwich - and filling!! |

Thinking back, I used to enjoy banana or jam (beats a pop tart anyday).
Nothing beats cheese though! ![]() This thread has put me in the mood for a toastie!!!

Cheese and Onion gets my vote, but chunky onion so it kinda softens but doesn't over cook and just has a bit of bite to it.
Or Tuna and Cheese Or at the union I get Pepperoni, Tomato, basil and Cheese (Either Mozzarella or Chedder) which is amazing. |

I'll keep an eye on this thread for any suggestions. My favourite is good old ham and cheese. Or if I'm feeling really adventurous, ham, cheese and tomato! |
