Katy Perry VS Lady GaGa
These two artists are surely the two most successful new artists for a while? Well Lady GaGa more so: Here is their first 4 singles positions in the UK and US.
Just Dance: UK #1 ALSO US#1 Pokerface :UK#1 ALSO US#1 Paparazzi: UK#4 HOWEVER YET TO BE RELEASED IN US. LoveGame: UK (YET TO BE RELEASED) US #5 I Kissed A Girl : UK#1 ALSO US#1 Hot N Cold: UK#4 - US#3 Thinking Of You: UK #27- US#29 Waking Up In Vegas: UK #19- US# 9 So Lady GaGa has better chart positions but who has sold more? |

Dunno but both are very annoying. I think Gaga has sold more, despite breaking through to the mainstream later.
Katy is a far better lyricist though imo (and in reality )

Probs would be Gaga. Katy perry's wasn't a flop but has never stayed in the charts long enough compared to gaga which means Lady gaga has is selling more
Also, Katy p's third and fourth singles never did well that well worldwide. Where as Gaga's third has and her fourth is likely to. Gaga didn't need to make bullcrap about kissing a girl. Gaga tells the truth in her songs. Katy p is like marmite for me. But she is just product. Lady gaga is an example of a brilliant pop star. Lady gaga can be controversial but people like her for it. It's the other way round for Katy. |

I think Katy Perry is awful and her music is just tacky. She also cannot sing live. Gaga can. Sing and dance. She's different and her album is just brilliant imo

![]() Her music is hardly tacky (have you heard Thinking Of You). I can agree with the singing issue but Gaga cannot dance. When she dances, it's as embarrassing as a close relative flashing you. ![]() She is barely different. Why else would the OP compare Gaga and KP? Her album is completely shallow, lacks depth and meaning and imo is tacky. All she sings about is begging for fame (Paparazzi) and talking about sex (Poker Face) and willies (Lovegame) Or can't you see through the innuendos

I love both so I can't decide. However I think that GaGa has made some of the best pop songs to come around in years, but Katy Perry's Thinking Of You is a really beautiful song.

The way she says comp-pear-ess-sons instead of comparisons. Waste of a good song. Kelly Clarkson would sound good singing it. |

GaGa has sold more. Her album has sold twice the amount of Katie's in the UK for a start.

i'm a big fan of both of them, they're both very much 'out there', Gaga more so.
ok, Katy doesn't have the strongest voice in the world, but does anyone really care about that? she's just great fun, not to be taken too seriously, that goes for her personality and her music, and that very much comes across in her live performances, she always puts on a great show. she sure is wacky but she makes it great fun, Gaga at times takes it too far. i think it's fair to say Gaga's music is more cutting edge, she writes most of her own songs, yes she might have the help of some of the top producers but she contributes to it and she certainly gives the songs all the charisma you could ask for and more. i'm a huge fan but recently her behaviour seems to be getting weirder and weirder, on and off stage, which does annoys me, it's fine to be different to everyone else but i think she should realise there is such a thing as going 'over the top', to the point where she alienates a lot of her fans. i'm sure she loves the fact that she divides opinion in the most extreme way, but if she keeps acting so bizarrely all the time less and less people will like her. sometimes i wish she would let her music do the talking - in that respect she has everything going for her, and i do think she has a good voice, when she wants to show it off, did anyone hear the acoustic version of Poker Face she sang on Radio 1's Live Lounge earlier in the year? that proves it for me. a lot of her songs are heavily produced so her voice might not come across as much as it can. but i love both of them anyway screw the haters

Katy tries to take herself too seriously when she sings about kissing a girl... Ok love, at least Gaga knows she is singing pop music that's silly but catchy.
So even though I don't like either of them all that much, I prefer Gaga just for that reason. |

Katy Perry is more a brand and a celebrity than a genuine massive popstar. Everyone knows her, but she doesnt sell that well, but she's so well known, I dont think people even realise. Her album only got to number 11 here, and then just sank like a stone. I think I prefer Katy more than Lady Gaga though both are awesome.

I like both but Lady Gaga is more "fun" and her songs might be silly but they're great to dance to.

I got the impression that Lady Gaga was just desperate for attention, hense the whole 'weird' persona. IMO I don't find her particularly shocking just pathetic.
For all the attention seeking I felt came around with Katy Perry's first song (which I am very much not a fan of) she seems to have calmed down a bit in that respect, or at least if she has had any publicity stunts they haven't been shoved down my throat so I haven't actually heard of them. Between the 2 of them, it comes across to me that Gaga takes what she does a lot more seriously than Perry. I doubt either of them have longevity though. Both are shallow pop acts out for the attention. However, I think I am going to put myself in Katy Perry's camp. I have at least liked 2 of her songs compared to none of Gaga's. |

Lady Gaga deffinatly. Doesn't matter about who's been around longer, Gaga does make better music.
However, i do like Katy Perry, but i find her music a little boring and 'move on' after a while.. |

GaGa
But these are both random choices to compare to anyway It's like comparing Cheryl Cole to Leona Lewis. Nothing alike at all accept they are both seen as sweethearts of the nation. |
