I have just purchased a Hitachi 32" HD Ready TV from ARGOS

Model No 32LD30U B at a reduced price. They do not state the actual model number in the latest catalogue, but it is printed on the outside of the box.
I have been onto the Hitachi Europe web site,as I wanted to find out how many Scarts it should acually have ,as in the catalogue it states 3 but on inspection of the tv it only has 2!!
There is no reference to this model number 32LD30U B either in the current or discontinued models lists.
I "e mailed Hitachi Europe[UK]" and rapidly received a reply stating that this model wasn't imported into Europe though ARGOS might have purchased in bulk direct from Hitachi Japan?.I have looked on the Japan Global Website and cant find any reference to it there either!
Does anyone have any thoughts on this or should I just take it up with ARGOS Customer Services.
Any help or comments appreciated..Michael

It's quite possible that Argos have just badged some cheap set they have bought in (probably Vestel?), it's even more possible that it's an 'Argos exclusive' model - which would just be a standard UK Hitachi with a minor cosmetic change, and a different model number. With such a set, Hitachi wouldn't recognise the model, as it's not one of their numbers.

Bear in mind though, most Hitachi sets are just cheap badged ones, mostly made by Vestel - Hitachi is considered a bottom end manufacturer now, down there with Bush, Goodmans etc.

Was it this one?

Says two SCARTs on the web page and also 2 SCARTs in the current catalogue (pg 348, Spring-Summer 2009).

It's just an observation, but...

you've bought a telly either from a catalogue page or from the description on the web site where there's no model number given
and the SCARTs on the telly match what the web and cat page says
and it was already cheap,
and then discounted by a further £80
but you're still not happy?

I'm amazed Argos can get away with not giving model numbers on some of their Acoustic Solutions, Bush, Goodmans and Hitachi TVs (and their catalogue specifications are a joke); but more than this I'm stunned that anyone would be gullible enough to take such a risk.

Hello:

I have a slightly different problem with this TV. When you switch it on after standby, the light flashes alternate green and red and will not switch on. The only way forward is to pull the plug from the mains and put it back in again. Anyone else had this problem?

Thanks
Stephen
